My wife and I are planning a trip to France in early September. The first few days will be Normandy/Mont St Michel. We are arriving CDG and going directly to Normandy. We are thinking the best option is to take a train to Normandy and then rent a car there, returning by train to Paris. Would appreciate logistical and any other thoughts. For the sake of clarity, the next leg will be to Provence, so thoughts on that leg (thinking train from Paris then rent a car) appreciated as well.
Thank you all for your comments, and please add anything additional thoughts. All very helpful to us. Seems from everything I see here, that there is not a train directly from CDG to a place nearer Normandy where we can rent a car. Since this is our first time potentially driving in Europe, and due to the long flight, we were hoping to avoid the complexities of going through Paris either by car or train.
