My daughter and I will be traveling in July, flying into Paris, having been there before we are only planning 2-3 days in and around Paris, taking a day trip to Versailles. My question is, we are flying out of Nice to Dublin a week later, should we take a flight from Paris to Nice and travel along the coast and if so what are the must see stops (have been to Cannes and east to Monaco, we we are thinking of heading west) or should we take a train from Paris to Nice and if so what stops should we take along the way? We will not have access to a car. Thank you for any ideas!
I vote for stopping along the way... Lyon! Avignon! Arles!
Thanks for your reply! Is it possible to get around those towns without a car? I have no problem using public trans or Uber to get there but are they walkable towns? Do you have any recommendations on what to see or where to stay? One day in each place enough? Thanks again! I wish I had a month!
Arles and Avignon are very walkable, and the public transit system in Lyon is, to use a technical term, amazeballs.
Lyon also has one and two-day visitors passes that must be the best travel deal on the planet.
The only hitch is that I don't believe you can buy these at the train station, and you will need change to buy tickets from the autoteller.
If these are appealing options then do not fly, take the train.
If you have already visited places around Nice, then to fly there directly makes no sense. Take a journey by train visiting new places along the way, Lyon, Avignon, Arles, etc.
