Paris to MANTES LA JOLIE

Hello, After our time in Paris, we are headed to Normandy via Giverny. We are planning on taking the train from Paris to Mantes La Jolie, picking up a rental car at the train station. My question is do we need to get train tickets in advance? Also, can someone share the website that shows train schedules? Thanks.

You don't need tickets in advance and can get them machines day of travel -- I usually get tickets in advance by a day or so because I have had the experience of missing the train I wanted due to lines to get tickets (before US credit cards worked in the machines). I am pretty sure your Navigo Decouverte will work to get you there if you have one. It is in the Ile de France.

The train is a suburban train which you cannot book. Tickets are sold on the same machines as metro tickets. Most trains leave from St Lazare and some from Montparnasse (it takes longer but it could be convenient if you are staying over there). Check transilien.com for schedules.

Thank you both for your reply! Very helpful. If we are going to be in Paris from Sunday to Friday I believe it would make sense for us to buy a NAVIGO WEEK PASS and include all zones, we will be using the metro and walking to get to all the main Paris locations. And then the regional train to get out of Paris. Would you agree that the NAVIGO pass makes sense?
