Paris to Gare L'Est - taxi/Bolt vs private shuttle?

Hello fellow travel experts. We are going to Paris in a few weeks and need to get from Hotel Academia Saint Germain to Gare L'Est at 730am on a Saturday. Our hotel quoted us a rate of 50 euro for a shuttle for a party of 4 with 4 carry-on size suitcases & 4 backpacks. That seems a little high. They said if we take a taxi we would most likely need 2. When I look at Rome2Rio it shows taxi rate of approx. $11. Not sure if we use a Bolt or FreeNow if we can request a larger vehicle like we can here in the US so we can all travel there together. Any input on which we should use? Merci beaucoup.

Download the Taxi G7 ap and order a taxi the night before. They'll send one large enough for the four of you. There will be a tiny added charge for ordering ahead, so a bit more than 11 euros.

Your hotel's shuttle is way overpriced, so you know they are getting a big kickback. This is a tiny trip in a straight line up the central main street of Paris, on a road originally laid out by the Romans.

Or, it's an easy-peasy metro ride from Metro Saint Germain to Gare de l'Est, on Line 4, no changes. Takes 15 minutes. You can walk it in 25.

Beware of advice from this hotel. That sort of whopper would have me rethinking my choice of this hotel. Glad you asked us.

Thank you so much Bets! I thought that was quite pricey for that short of a distance. Much appreciated. Have a great day.

I'd endorse the warning about the hotel; what other sleazy practices will they have? I'd sure not be buying their overpriced breakfasts either. and to suggest you need two taxis when it is easy to order a large cab --- hmmmm

If you can carry your luggage downstairs at Saint germain des Prés station - and there aren't that many steps, it is not a deep station - metro line 4 will be very quiet on a Saturday morning, and Gare de l'Est station has escalators.

But the comfort of a cab will not cost that much more. Do order the day before if you decide on a cab.

@Kerouac2, fair point that we should indeed take into account!

Thanks everyone for the additional input. We don't plan to eat breakfast at the hotel but rather enjoy that at one of the many cafe's nearby. I cancelled our request for the shuttle to the Gare and will take either the taxi or metro if it is close enough to haul our luggage their. Have a great day!
