Paris to Dijon via train as day trip?

Has anyone done this a day trip? I thought Dijon would be an interesting place to visit and from the DB site it looks like trains there take about 1.5hrs on the TGV. So it seems possible to go out there, poke around, have lunch, and return in the late afternoon. I was wondering if anyone has done this and if they thought it was worth it.

I haven't done it as a day trip but I know that when you arrive by train in Dijon, you can just walk in a straight line from the railway station down to the centre of town. There used to be a tourist office on the left not far from the station but I think it has been relocated, so you can google for the new location. I think it is a worthwhile day-trip from Paris and hope you do it.

Hi John, you'll definitely like Dijon and to make the most of it, stop at the TO in the station main yard (on the right side near Quick Restaurant) and ask for the Owl's trail brochure. It will show you the 22 main sights by following the steps, the 1st one starting in Darcy garden on the way to the historic centre.
For those who haven't been to Dijon for a while you'll see a huge difference. Place Darcy is nicer and less busy with cars (because of the tramway), the main street rue de la Liberté is now fully pedestrian and the Fine Art museum has been renovated and reopened last September. John I'm sure you'll want to come back for a longer stay ! Have fun ! Coco from Dijon.

I did it as a day trip several years ago and had a good time. It has a great market if you go on market day. :)

I enjoyed a short day in Dijon and found it beautiful. I focused on a self-guided walking tour map that I got at the Tourist Information Office and visiting the Musee des Beaux Arts.

Emma actually followed the Owl's trail :) As for market days, there are on Tuesdays, Thursdays (smaller version) Fridays and Saturdays from 7am to 1pm.
