I have been researching how to get to Bordeaux from CDG (Charles de Gaulle airport) and it appears that there are more trains leaving the train station Montparnesse to Bordeaux then from CDG airport to Bordeaux. It also appears that it may be too early to book yet. How soon can I book a train ticket? How do I get to Montparnesse from CDG? Trying to figure this out so any help would be greatly appreciated. This is planned for early October 2026.
For reference, I bought train tickets for our trip from Gare Montparnasse to Bayonne (south of Bordeaux) on 1/28/26 for a 5/5/26 trip. You can set up alerts on the SNCF website for ticket sales for your planned departure date. To get from CDG to Gare Montparnasse, you can take a taxi or you can do what we just did last month: RER B from CDG to Denfert-Rochereau and then transfer to Metro line 4 to Montparnasse Bienvenue.
ER B from CDG to Denfert-Rochereau and then transfer to Metro line 4 to Montparnasse Bienvenue.
While the No 4 line does go to Gare Montparnasse, it is a rather long walk to the actual station. The No 6 line also goes from Denfert-Rochereau to Gare Montparnasse, but the stop there is much closer to the station. Take the No 6.
Hi Lisette,
You can definitely do either CDG to Bordeaux or CDG to Montparnasse. We take this route often and prefer the CDG to Bordeaux route as it is way less complicated than schleping your luggage from CDG to Gare Montparnasse. With that said, you may have to change trains at Massey if you take the CDG to Bordeaux route but this is minor and super easy (you never even leave the platform for your track). On the surface, Montparnasse seems more logical but in practice it is not. Just my opinion.
Much appreciated! The info is just what I needed.
