Hi All, my husband and I will be going from Paris in the Latin Quarter to Beaune and back this June from the 11th to the 18th.
I am confused about just where to book these tickets. Should I use Rail Europe or SNCF connect? I would prefer a trip with only 1 or no stops.
I would like to avoid 3rd party booking sites and confusing websites. Just want to book by credit card and be done with it. The Rail Europe site seems easier to use and I see a round trip direct option now at a low cost that looks just right. I have read some other posts in the forum advising not to use Rail Europe. Is there a reason not to? The SNCF site is not as straightforward and I don't want to get this wrong.
Related question: We have previously been to Paris in 2019, and taken a train to Nantes and back from the Gare Montparnasse and we found this station in Montparnasse to be totally confusing. We could not figure out where to find our train and saw no information booths and just happened to flag down an employee who had a bit of English to direct us as we were running out of time. He pointed to to the trains but then we weren't sure which one to get on as there were no clear posted signs. Fortunately we somehow got on the right one.
Can anyone who is familiar with Gare de Lyon, which along with Bercy seem to be the stations in Paris we would use to get to Beaune, who can give a few pointers on where the trains to Beaune from Paris can be accessed within the stations? What level they might be on, for instance? Not sure which station we will ultimately be heading out of and back to. I do speak a little bit of conversational French which I hope will help.
Finally, can anyone speak to the availability of taxis In Beaune? We are thinking we will need one from the station in Beaune to our hotel, which is in central Beaune. Thank you so much for any suggestions, they are much appreciated by this train-newbie!
