Paris to Avignon train options given current climate

First trip to France. Arriving at CDG around 1:30 p.m. on a Thursday later in April and then planning to take a train to Avignon.

Would it be better to wait at the CDG TGV station for a later train, 6:00 train arriving around 10:00 p.m., OR take G7 car, taxi or metro to Gare de Lyon and take a 4:30 or 5:30 train arriving much earlier?

I prefer fewer moving parts but also don't fancy arriving so late.

In addition, we will be sleep deprived from a red-eye flight.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

If you want to minimize moving parts, consider the 5:08 PM train to Avignon Centre from Gare de Lyon. Its timing is perfect for a 1.30 PM landing and it gets you straight to the downtown Avignon station, unlike all the other trains that only get you to the outlying TGV station where you have to connect and often wait a bit for the shuttle train to the center. It is a bit slower than those options, but it is a one-seat ride that gets you to the city center of Avignon by 9 PM.
