Paris Taxi question

Hello,

We will need a taxi at 4AM ... we are near Gare de Lyon and want to head to CDG. Do you know if there are taxis available 24/7? I can't find their hours. If not, do you recommend Uber or some other service? Looking for a super reliable ride at that hour.

Thanks!

Have your hotel’s front desk arrange for a taxi or driver for you.

Thanks for your reply.

I should have said, we are staying in an apartment, not a hotel, so we have to figure it out.

There are usually taxis available, but in order to erase any anxiety about getting to the airport, you can go on the Taxis G7 website the day before and reserve a taxi in advance.

Uber is also another option and yes there are usually cars at that hour. Just keep in mind that with Uber you may end up waiting longer than the first notice they give you “car is two minutes away” usually means ten at least. That is okay if you’ve built in a little extra time — and from the Gare de Lyon area at that time of the morning you can get out to the airport quickly.

Uber is an option any time of the day. I've used it without a problem.

Always book G7 the night before for a high stakes flight. Taxis are not reliably available last minute and not reliably available at taxi stands.

Either call yourself, English-speaking operator 01 41 27 66 99, use the app, or go to the Taxi G7 website the afternoon before your departure and reserve a taxi. The cost for up to 4 people is fixed at 50€ plus 7€ for the reservation.

Uber does a lot of surge pricing in Paris and I have seen rides costing up to 100€ from the Right Bank to CDG.

But at that time of the morning, Uber is probably cheaper to the airport (I live in the same arrondissement, and that's been my experience with very early morning Transfers to the airport).

(I am not trying to convince you to take Uber, merely stating my experience going to CDG from the same arrondissement at that time of the morning. My guess is that surge pricing would come into play later in the morning, and in the afternoons, and anytime there's some taxi trouble of traffic problems.). Indeed, in your case it's probably best/easiest to reserve ahead of time on the G7 app for your peace of mind and to have it set and not have to think about it again.

While taxi rates to the airport are fixed, there will probably be an extra fee for an advance reservation or the hotel phoning for a cab. Not much, but just so you know.
