Paris taxi or Uber for large family

There are 5 of
us. Too many for a standard taxi or Uber as I understand it. Don’t want to pay for private driver or use 2 cars .Does some company have larger cars to fit 5?

If you need a taxi at the airport, there are taxis there that will carry five people. If you need a lift to the airport, you can opt for Uber XL or get a car from Taxi G7 either by calling them or arranging it on their website or through their app. The same is true for trips around town if you choose to travel by car. It a little tricky to arrange for a taxi for five with Taxi G7 on their website/app so I suggest calling their English language number which I have misplaced but I hope that someone will post.

What JHK said.

I love the G7 taxi app. So user friendly, but not sure how the party of 5 situation works out with the app.
When we arrived in Paris 3 weeks ago, the group in front of us, had 5, and they pulled them aside for a minute to get them a larger vehicle while managing the majority of people in line with 2 or 3 people. They are very efficient in the taxi line at CDG, and you don't need the G7 app for that. Just for around the city, etc.

as noted. No issue at the airport; there are plenty of van cabs that take up to 7. The dispatcher will get one for you if one is not near the head of the line. Note that the fixed fee from the airport (CDG) is 56 to the right bank and 65 to the left bank. That is for 4 people and their luggage. You pay an additional fee of, I think, 4.50 for the 5th person (and each above that)

We always call G7 for the ride back; it costs 7 to reserve plus the fixed fee and fee for the extra person. when you talk to G7 on their English speaking line, you make clear you need a large van for 5 people -- they are VERY reliablel.
Their English speaking phone line is: +331.41.27.66.99
I always book at least 2 days ahead after we had a situation when no cabs were available the night before and we had to pay more to book a different carrier.

Not sure where you are hailing this “taxi” or where you are headed, but is easy from the airport.

I recommend not booking ahead if you’re flying in on an international flight due to possible flight delays. There is a set fee heading to Paris from CDG. You can find it on the CDG website. Tell them you know annd write it down on paper if you don’t speak French. Avoid like the plague, drivers that will greet you offering tax rides before you get to the official taxi stand.

I used the bolt ap while in Paris, at someone's recommendation. We only used it for 2 rides, but I believe, like Uber you just select a car big enough to hold everyone. For both of our trips it seemed reasonably priced and fairly fast. Our trip back to the airport from our hotel in the 10th cost ~28 euro, for 2 people at 8:30am on a week day. Traffic wasn't great but we had plenty of time and I wasn't driving so it was fine with me. We chose not to take public transit which might have saved a small amount because my husband wasn't able to walk far or negotiate stairs.

Everyone’s given you good advice.

For the details of fixed-rate costs to/from CDG airport (in case that will be one or two of your trips):

A taxi will be either 61.50 euros or 70.50 euros for your group, depending on which side of the river you are staying on.

Fixed rate to the Right Bank for up to four people is 56 euros, plus 5.50 euros for the fifth person (so, 61.50 total).

Fixed rate to the Left Bank for up to four people is 65 euros, plus 5.50 euros for the fifth person (so, 70.50 total).

As Janet noted, if you are leaving Paris via CDG, you’ll want to reserve ahead, and there is a 7-euro fe for that, so add that to the 61.50 or 70.50 euros for the departure taxi trip. It’s well worth the 7 euros to be assured of a car - especially when you need the space for 5 people (and thus can’t take just any vehicle that arrives).

And the saving grace with the taxis being fixed-rate is that it doesn’t matter if you get stuck in traffic - the meter will not be rolling up, up up . . . .
