Paris Stay for Four Nights

Hi,
Does anyone have any recommendations where to stay in Paris in August for 4 nights (4 adults)?
We would like to see Versailles and Chartres.
Thank you,
M.

For meaningful recommendations, please include your budget window per night in euros and how many you are.

Luckily, August is low season in Paris and you will benefit from lower prices.

In addition to your budget in Euros, what do you plan to do in Paris?

Day 1 arrival
Day 2 Versailles
Day 3 Chartres
Day 4 ???
Day 5 departure

Unless your planning specific evening activities in Paris, I might be tempted to stay in Versailles to cut down on travel time.

To me both Versailles and Chartres are full day trips. That only leaves one full day for Paris which, for me, would not be enough. We each travel differently and my style might not be what you are interested in.

Will your arrival day be from and international flight or will you have been in Europe for a bit? Asking to see what might be convenient for your arrival.

The trains to Chartres leave from the Gare Montparnasse. The RER C train to Versailles has a number of stops convenient to a number of areas.

I think as long as you are near a good metro stop ( one that has at least 2 lines ), finding an affordable hotel is the most important criterion. We stayed last month near the Place d’Italie in the 13th Arr. I never read of staying there on the forums, but we found it affordable and a nice area with decent transpirtation links.

Thank you, all.

Stephen - Would you mind sharing the hotel name? I am not looking for anything luxurious, but comfortable enough and convenient.

And, we will be arriving by train from Germany (have not looked at flights yet, but maybe I should?). I am considering five nights, if four nights are not enough.

Definitely add as many nights as you can to Paris. There are months worth of things to see, do, relish and enjoy there! And can you give a price window or maximum you are considering for lodging? It's hard to recommend anything without some idea of your expectations/wishes regarding costs of hotels.

I'd definitely agree with adding at least one more night in Paris especially if Versailles and Chartres are important for your group to see.

I will add that IF it's hot when you are there, to me Versailles would be miserable. There is always a crush of people and the times I've been I was very hot inside even when the day outside was not particularly warm. BUT...that's me and my intolerance to heat so your group may have different needs.

I've enjoyed the Hotel Muguet and Hotel Relais Bosquet in the 7th if either of those are in your price range. I stayed at Muguet last October and the Relais Bosquet the year before. I will be staying at both this October when I am in Paris for 3 weeks.
