Paris St. Lazare train station to Paris Nord train station

We will be traveling by train from Bayeux to Paris to London. We arrive in Paris at the St. Lazare station and need to depart on the Eurostar at the Nord station. How far apart are these stations, what is the fastest way to get from one to the other and how much time should we schedule in between trains so we aren't late for our Eurostar??

cherie,

The quickest and easiest method would probably be to take a Cab. What time of day will you be making that trip?

Arriving in Paris at 4:47 pm on a Friday night

If there no traffic, which might be a problem at 4:47 PM on a Friday, it is about a 8-10 minute drive between these two stations. The RER E train connects St-Lazare to Gare du Nord but requires about a 8 minute walk to Haussman-Saint Lazare station followed by a quick one-stop trip (4-5 minutes) to Magenta followed by another 8 minute walk to Gare du Nord. There is a bus (# 43) that connects the two stations that I think is an easier trip than the train and in rush hour traffic, the bus trip takes about 20 to 25 minutes minutes (not including waiting time for the bus).

Trying to decide if we book the 6:04 pm or 6:37 pm Eurostar - plus need to grab some dinner in between trains. Is 6:37 pm safer? Or even later departure?

By grab some dinner, you mean buy something to eat on the train or eat at a fast food place, right?

Yes, grab a "to go" meal preferably not McD's!

Cherie,

At that time of the afternoon, traffic will probably be "busy", but I'd still suggest the Taxi as the distance is not that great.

Note that you MUST check-in for your EuroStar train a minimum of 30 minutes prior to departure or you won't be riding (45 minutes to an hour is recommended). Keep in mind that you'll have to go through airport-style security for the EuroStar and you'll also have to clear U.K. Passport control in Paris. All that takes time, so booking the 18:37 departure would be "safer" (IMO). Although that would mean more waiting time, it would also provide some time to grab a quick meal in one of the food joints in the station.
