If you aren't interested in any of the ubiquitous t-shirt shops, maybe try a museum gift shop? Under the Louvre has a variety of shops (Carrousel-of-the-Louvre). You might find something there (you can enter from rue de Rivoli at the Carrousel entrance w/out going to the Louvre). Also, there are a lot of shops in the Marais where you might find something different in the way of t-shirts. - Try Rue des Francs-Bourgeois, Rue des Archives and rue du Temple.
Bobblehead? Paris St Germain is "pretty good"
it's hard NOT to find souvenirs in Paris. Just quickly look at every place you pass and you are bound to find something nice. Perhaps go into Lafayette or Printemps if you want something pricier and more upscale. Or a Benneton or H&M and they can say, Hey I bought this shirt in Paris.
thank you everyone!
The Join Us in France podcast recommends souvenir shopping in the Latin Quarter. FWIW, we stayed in the Latin Quarter and I did not see many places there that were any better/different than what I saw elsewhere in the city.
St. Germain is like every other busy area of Paris with lots of souvenir opportunities, and when you get down near the river and Notre Dame you can't walk without tripping over stuff. Obviously it's mostly the same but each store is a little different.
