Paris : Requesting Hotel recommendations

Friends :
We are a family of three (my wife, daughter - 27, and I). We are looking for good hotel - looking for centrally located so we can walk to attractions or take metro. Having breakfast included is a major requirement.

Some hotels I am looking at :
1) Hôtel Thérèse - 5-7 Rue Thérèse, 2nd arr, 75001 Paris, France
2) Hotel Etats Unis Opera, 16, rue d´Antin, 2nd arr., 75002 Paris, France
3) Hotel Eiffel Seine, 3, Boulevard de Grenelle, 15th arr., 75015 Paris, France

Requesting feedback on these hotels on location, and if you have stayed in these.

Also - if you have other recommendations, please reply.

Thanks for your help

I am not familiar with them but recently stayed at the Hôtel Left Bank Saint Germain des Prés, located on 9 Rue de l'Ancienne Comédie. We had a triple room in St. Germain with two grandchildren (11 and 15) and enjoyed our stay there very much. The location was fantastic; close to the Luxembourg Gardens, Notre Dame, Pont Neuf, and countless cafes, boulangeries, patisseries, and much more. It was perfect for walking and the Odion metro stop was a block away.

The large room was great for us because of the layout. It had two single beds near each other (or you can have one double) and the other single was separated by a partial wall and curtain so it gave my grandson some privacy. I believe the cost was around €300 per night. The hotel had A/C and a small lift. And the breakfast was very substantial and very good. My 15 year old grandson, who loves food and eats like a horse, really enjoyed it.

For starters, IMO, there are so my delightful cafes in Paris where you can have a coffee, croissant & oj or more as you watch Parisian life go by, I wouldn't worry about breakfast included at the hotel, especially if your room has a coffee maker for the coffee drinkers

Are you first time visitors? How long are you in Paris? I don't care for the location of #3. Except for the Eiffel Tower you are quite a distance from the usual attractions. #1 and #2 are not far from the Louvre and higher end shopping.

Personally, I like to stay within about a 15-20 minute walk of the Seine in the 4th, 5th or 6th arrondissements if the big sights of Paris are my top priority.

Paris is at its best when you are walking and enjoying the city, not down in the metro. Buses can be convenient. The Metro is best for longer distances.

Thank you so much. I forgot to add -- our dates are
August 15-20 ( 5 nights, which will give us 4.5 days in Paris). We are taking the train from London.
I have flights booked SFO-LHR-SFO (arriving Aug 14, leaving back Aug 29). We are taking the Paris trip out of our time in London.

Thank you, Mardee - for your recommendation on Hôtel Left Bank Saint Germain des Prés. This looks like a good option
for the three of us. Price is also reasonable .. with taxes, it is coming to USD $ 2,450 ( 2,149.72 Eur) for 5 nights.

Thank you, jeanm. It is our first time in Paris. Appreciate your feedback on >> 3) Hotel Eiffel Seine << - I have scratched this hotel from our plans.

Comparing -
1) Hôtel Thérèse - 5-7 Rue Thérèse, 2nd arr, 75001 Paris, France
$2,927.23 ( 2,554.86 EUR) Total

2) Hotel Etats Unis Opera, 16, rue d´Antin, 2nd arr., 75002 Paris, France
$2,791.96 ( 2,436.80 in EUR) Total

So cost wise Hôtel Left Bank Saint Germain des Prés. USD $ 2,450 ( 2,149.72 Eur) - Total, looks good too.

Yes, the hotel that Mardee recommends is much better located than your other choices for walking to many sights as well as metro bus access.

And, as she mentions, you'll have plenty of cafes, restaurants and patisseries nearby.

Enjoy your stay in Paris!

I assume you are going to Paris in the middle of your trip and then back to London. I am not sure if it would cost a lot to change flight to SFO to Heathrow travel to Paris at end of trip and home from CDG?? It would save a half a day and expense going back to London from Paris. At this late date might be too much to make any changes.

gail - you are correct.
However, I got flight tickets on Virgin Atlantic on Delta FF miles -- yes, that does work. It cost us 58K miles + $220 taxes for each ticket, and we didn't have choice other than take direct flight available from SFO and back.
Glad I had the miles to use -- but it took me many many years to accumulate these miles.
