Paris Report with AirBnb Anecdote

So far our time in Paris is good. We had an issue with our AirBnb where the Host did not provide the essentials and there was no blind on the window from the small bedroom .

I called AirBnb right away yesterday morning and explained what happened and took photos and documented it. The care team worked with us to find us a 2 bedroom apartment in Trocadero..With a lot of bank and forward they refunded us the money plus a 30 percent discount and $165 bonus refund.

Our new apartment is a 7 minute walk to Trocadero and we are ending up paying $15 total as AirCare Insurance covers us for misrepresented apartments.

To get to our new apartment I got an Uber for 30 Euros and it took an hour in traffic but we used it as a tour of the sights passing the Notre Dame,Louvre D'Orsay along the Seine . It was money well spent as I love seeing Paris.

Yesterday I went to the Louvre and D'Orsay and enjoyed the Tulilleries. My Father and I found a good hamburger place on Rue Charonne for 25 Euros we got two Racquefort Burgers,Fries and two Cokes. Very delicious.

Yesterday morning I found this cute Cafe and practiced my French The Menu for 6.50 Euros included Pain Chocolate,Double Espresso , Orange Juice and Water. The kind waitress gave it to me for 5 Euros without asking.

This morning I found a nice Parasite on Rue Charonne rated #18 in all of Paris. I also spoke in French and the kind worker gave me a fresh one out of the oven For 6.5 Euros it was the best one I've had In a long time.

Then I walked to Place de Voygses for people watching.

Tonight I plan to go to Rue Cler for Dinner and the Effiel Tower today or Tomorrow.

I got the Day Metro Pass for 8.50 Euros on my Navigo Card I saved from last year. They don't take Carnets or paper tickets.

Sunday we're going to Rungis to stay at the Novotel Suites for $90.

It pays to be flexible with plans. By moving we can focus on Trocadero and we were going to stay in an AirBnb future away. I'm so happy we had the issue at the other place as we would not be here and we would pay $700 for 2 nights .

Our current Hostess is so kind and gave us the unit early after explaining what happened. She has been super accommodating on a short notice.

Like Rick you have to be flexible. I have no Jetlag and take his advice to 😴 on the plane and be active.

"This morning I found a nice Parasite on Rue Charonne rated #18 in all of Paris."

You must be doing speech to text?? I'm sure it will occur to me at some point what you really meant by parasite....hopefully not the bedbug situation, lol.

Sounds like a really fun time so far! Continue to enjoy!

This is a wide area of contention in apartment renters. Self catering means that you have a roof over your head and a bed to sleep in, with linens provided. It doesn't mean paper towels, toilet paper, olive oil or bottled water, although some owners/agencies do provide these. So, I'm curious to know what essentials were missing from your first apartment and if they were provided for in the ad..

Daniel--very happy you had a good outcome and are having a good time.

I hope you don't waste your time listing what was wrong and detailing but clearly something was very wrong.

Airbnb responds this way in serious situations, not minor inconveniences. Enjoy

I think "Parasite" was autocorrect for patisserie.

I love wandering the streets of Paris, sampling the wares of the various parasites I encounter. ;-)

Actually there was no hand soap or shampoo ,one toilet paper roll for 3 for 4 nights. Essentials was part of the listing I was able to document it and back out. Sorry for Autocorrect.

For my future trip in 2 weeks, did you reach out to the owner first or Airbnb? Were there more issues than you stated here? How many nights were you staying? Thanks.
