I haven’t been to Paris since December 2024 but heading back next year. This was new to me so I thought I’d share:
“You can add a Navigo pass to Apple Wallet to pay for Paris public transport using your iPhone or Apple Watch (Series 4+). Simply open the Wallet app, tap the + sign, select "Transit Card," and choose "Navigo" to purchase tickets or passes via Apple Pay, allowing you to "tap" at turnstiles immediately.”
Anyone wanting more info about the Metro should watch a recent episode of Les Frenchies where Antoine and a friend show how the system is supposed to work, and how it really works. The authorities just need to bite the bullet and change over to contactless credit cards like London.
The last estimate I saw to add credit cards to the métro/train/RER network would cost several hundred million euros, basically just to make travel more convenient for the tourists who are not afraid to use public transportation. IDF Mobilités has already added credit card readers to the bus network.
The city seems more inclined to spend money on taking out parking spaces for cars and adding bicycle lanes.
