Paris Public Transportation

Hi all,

I have downloaded the Bonjour RATP app on my phone for public transport tickets. Is this enough, or do I need to install another app called Ticket sans contact to tap my phone at the entry and exit gates?

If I purchase a mobile ticket or travel pass and it is not accepted at the tap machine, what should I do next? What are the common mistakes people make when entering and exiting using a mobile ticket?

Thank you

Have a couple euro available for issues taking the bus. Pay the man, figure out the snag afterwards.

We used the Bonjour app and it allows you to load your tickets (we chose decouverte pass) on either the phone or your Apple Watch.

After I chose Apple Watch, I selected express mode in the watch wallet settings. That allowed us to wave out watches to validate on both RER/metro/bus.

You can find one or two relevant walk through on YouTube.

Also, the more time you spend now studying the transportation system, the fewer headaches and wasted time/missed opportunities you’ll have on vacation.

We almost missed the only train to Chartres because I didn’t set aside enough time to become lost while transferring trains after leaving Paris. It looks so easy on paper, but when you’re there, and you’re weary and nauseated from past night’s snails, you’ll thank yourself for tve preparation and printed maps you’ll have with you.

Plus there’s a few
Good Paris public transportation books you should read. Amazon.

I had both the Bonjour RATP and My Navigo Tickets apps downloaded on my phone when we were in Paris this past December and had no problems at the entry and exit gates. My boyfriend had one or two issues, but that is because he had T-Mobile on an old phone that didn't get good service even in the U.S. so I blame that. One time he had to talk to someone at the station, and I think they may have just let him out, but I was ahead of him and not paying attention.
