What is a good public transport ticket option for two days of sightseeing in Paris and one day visiting Versailles?

Get a Navigo Easy. Put some metro tickets on it; they will take you anywhere in the Ile de France including Versailles. If you need to use the train from the airport, get a blank Navigo Easy and put only the airport ticket on it for 13 Euro. You can't mix tickets. Once in Paris, put metro tickets on it for 2.50 each which covers all train travel in the Ile de France region -- what used to be 5 zones.
