Which works best at skipping lines at the Louvre and other major sites?
The Paris Pass has a Museum Pass with it. They are not different, except that the Paris Pass sells you a Museum Pass at almost twice what you would pay by itself by bundling it with a bunch of other overpriced products. Do not buy a Paris Pass unless you have too much money in your pocket. In that case, you could send it to me instead.
Any pass that admits you to the Louvre or elsewhere without having to buy an individual ticket will save you time by skipping the ticket-buying line. No pass will let you skip the security line. The Museum Pass is a good value if you'll be visiting enough of the museums it covers in the time it covers. The Paris Pass is not a good value because it costs too much for the time it covers.
If you have a Museum Pass then you use different security lines that are shorter at every major museum. At the Musee d'Orsay this is vital as you use an entirely different entry and can save as much as two hours by having a ticket ahead or the pass. The only places I am aware of where you wait in the same security line with those without tickets is at Ste. Chapelle and Versailles.
