Has anyone taken the Mystery tour at the Palais Garnier? This is the one that starts at 5 pm, after the opera house is closed to the public. Would you recommend this tour? Did you get to see the various rooms and everything? I know there is no guarantee you can go inside the auditorium but I want to make sure this tour covers the same locations as the daytime tours. I'm debating between this tour and doing one in the morning. Any tips or insight is appreciated!
Hi JMP - I booked this for my trip in November thru Viator & I'm also wondering if people recommend it. Are you going to Paris soon? I can let you know about it when I get back.
Yes and yes. Took it in March, very good tour. Now, there are LOTS of people taking the tour, albeit y'all have different tour guides.
We got to see pretty much everything; they were in the middle of building sets for something, but yes, we got to hang out for quite awhile in the main theater and see the box seats as well.
Cyn: not sure when you're headed to Paris but we really enjoyed the Mystery tour at the Paris Opera last week! While the sign out front said the auditorium was closed, we were still able to go inside on our tour. We actually sat in the box seats for quite a while and then went down to the main floor and sat in seats down there as well. They were getting ready for a performance that evening so we got to see and hear the musicians warming up and they were setting up the champagne stations in the lobby. This tour exceeded my expectations and I am so glad we chose the after hours tour as I don't think we would have been allowed in the auditorium during the day.
