The Paris Opera site (operadeparis.fr/en) offers for ‘23-‘24 a “Season Pass” for 65 € that allows booking for any show without waiting for the date given for public sale. For example, I want to buy tickets for the ballet “Giselle” at the Opera Garnier for May 2, 2024. According to the schedule, online ticket purchase is only available starting at noon (Paris time) on October 17. I’d gladly buy the Season Pass so I could buy tickets for Giselle early, but it is non-refundable and I don’t want to buy it and the find out that there are no tickets available for that particular (opening night) performance. There appears to be no way to contact the Paris Opera to find out if tickets are available before I buy the Season Pass. Any advice on this, or at least on what email or phone number I might call to find out?
I’m pleased to report that I was able to email (in English) Opera de Paris ([email protected]) with this question and received a prompt, helpful response in English. They told me that tickets were still available in my preferred price range, so I could buy the (non-refundable) pass with confidence. However, I was surprised to find that there were not all that many seats available, even though I booked a week before the regular sale begins. Even if I had gotten online in the early hours of the morning of Oct 17 to buy as soon as sales opened 9:00 AM Paris time, the really good seats I wanted would probably have been sold out. So for me it was worth it to buy the “Season Pass” even though it meant I was paying a premium of 60€ (not 65) for the tickets. (One Season Pass allows you to purchase up to 6 tickets for a given performance.) Do email Opera de Paris (there is also a phone number on the Opera de Paris site) prior to buying the pass to ensure tickets in your desired price range are available for a given performance. If so, buy the pass and then buy the tickets using the pass as soon as possible. I waited about 10 hours and might have lost out! (The Season Pass is for performances at both the Opera Garnier and the main house, the Opera Bastille.)
Thanks. I had hoped to see it, but it would have to be on my arrival day (May 31 and I leave Paris the next day). So I would be likely to fall asleep during the performance even if I could get tickets. I would love to see a ballet in that wonderful hall some day...
