We are staying in the 1st arr. I want to rent a car one day to drive northeast of Paris to Pierrefonds and Chantilly for the day. I’ve only ever picked up rentals at Orly when we’ve driven south for a week or so. Where is a good place in the north to get a one day rental? Pick up around 8am and return about 8pm. Would Gare du Nord be a good place to rent? I’d rather not travel all the way out to the airport at CDG for this, but will if that’s the best. It will be just me and my 12 and 13 year old kids. Pierrefonds is closed until October 19th. If you are thinking about going before then, I would just take the RER to Chantilly as there is a 25€ transportation/admissions package available and skip the car rental.
If you were to rent a car, Gare du Nord is about as easy as anywhere to rent a car. All of the primary companies are there: Europcar, Sixt, Hertz, and Avis.
