Paris on Thanksgiving

Hello.
We will be in Paris fot 7 days 11/20-11/27 with my husband and mom. We are all pretty much OK to walk a lot. Of course, if need be, we will slow down. However, I need some ideas. We are staying at an apartment in Latin Quarter. Where should we go from there? We would like to see: Eifels tower, Louvre, Mousse de Orsay, Versailles, Opera, Galeries de Lafayette, Sacre Ceur,, Monmartre, etc. One of our standard plans is to get on a Hop on/Hop off bus and do an entire city tour in one day. Then go back ans visit places we enjoyed more in depth, etc. I appreciate for any information and ideas.

Since you are arriving on a Monday, each buy a Navigo Decouverte week pass which costs 22.80 EUR per person plus a 5 EUR set-up fee. Bring a 1" by 1 1/4" passport type photo for each person. Now use it to get from the airport (my assumption) into Paris, in the Latin Quarter by getting off the train at St Michel-Notre Dame or Luxembourg. You can use it to get to all these places on the Metro, city buses, or RER trains (namely to/from Versailles). It will expire on Sunday night, so splurge on a set price taxi to get to the airport on Monday for 55 EUR (if CDG is where you are going).

You purchase your tickets for the HOHO bus from the driver. He can take credit cards.
Google the routes to see what time the bus comes and where the stops are.
OpenTour has the most stops.

Be sure to put Basilica St. Denis on your list. IMHO the most amazing little visited tourist site in Paris. It is on the 13 Metro. It is the first Gothic church in Europe and houses the tombs of the Kings of France which were preserved when the bodies were trashed during the revolution. Stunning.

Have you gotten the RS guidebook yet? It has a wealth of information on how to plan your time, including a suggested itinerary. His transportation info is also invaluable. And pay attention to days when certain sites are closed.

I have some mobility limitations, so I tend to plan our days by clustering things geographically. But one thing we always try to do (weather permitting) is to begin a morning on the Arc de Triomphe (fabulous view), then walk down the Champs Èlysees (to lick the windows- look it up lol) , past Place de la Concorde, and thru the Tuileries to the Louvre. It's a great walk.

Don't forget to have a fabulous, special French dinner in Paris to celebrated Thanksgiving. If you want ambiance, try le Train Bleu or Brasserie BoFinger.

Rick Steves also offers free Apps to listen to while visiting a number of sites. If you have smart phone or iPad, download it at home prior to departure for the sites you will see. Another good App is CityMaps2Go, you can use this off line & not burn any data. A plus with it is you can put "Pins" at the sites your are visiting & the map will track you. Don't forget to Pin your apartment and again, no data is being used.
Enjoy your trip

Thank you, everyone, for your input. Since we will be there in November, is there anything you would recommend to do/visit that would be different or better than visiting in the summer/warm months? I am also aware that most fountains wont be on 😔, such as Versailles, but would you still recommend to do the outside tour (if they offer)? Also, I chose Moulin Rouge to Lido and Crazy Horse. Is it worthnto have dinner there or not?
Thanks.

High culture is in full swing in November. Opera. Ballet, Orchestra concerts. I guess the Moulin Rouge is culture too. Friends have gone to shows with drinks. Dinner shows are probably high priced mediocre food.

Uber app comes in handy for getting around Paris. Yes, the metro is the most affordable and probably quickest method. But if you find yourself not near a metro or your Mom just can't walk anymore then pull out he Uber App and summon your ride. It worked very well for us.

Thank you, Tim. This is a great advice!
Sam, I looked up the opera and ballet schedule but, unfortunately, there is going to be nothing performing at Garnier, except for Mozart's Titus. I love Mozart, but it is not my favorite. And I dont want to go to Bastille. Would you (or anyone) recommend any other theaters and, possibly, some links?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks, Barbra. This will be my 2nd time and 1st time for my family. But I came to Paris over 20 years ago, so, it is like my 1st time 😊 Usually, we like to do the HOHO bus at every country we visit. Thats way it is easier to know what other places we want to revisit. Yes, the catacombs are on my hubby's list. Im originally from Odessa, Ukraine, and have explored those for yeara, so this is something that's not of interest for me anymore...Nonetheless, thank you!

We were there last Thanksgiving. Things that might be different than other times are some Christmas markets were opening at that time I know the champs elysees one was going when we were there. Also get tickets for the Eiffel around 4 or 430. You can go up in daylight and get a sunset and then see the city light up. It get dark pretty early so account for that. Also look at the weather ahead to plan your outdoor days around any potential rainy days.
