Paris on Easter Monday

My spouse and I have flights scheduled for Paris in April. We are thinking about changing our flight there to arrive on Easter Monday, but we’ve read that this day is a national holiday.

Will public transportation from CDG to Paris be affected, ie, will there be longer waits for the train or bus? What about restaurants/casual eateries- will many be closed or have shorter hours?

Anything else we should consider that we wouldn’t think of or realize? Neither of us has been to Paris before.

Thanks for any help!

Monday is a day when markets are closed and many restaurants choose that day to close but Easter Monday is not otherwise an issue. Public transport works on a holiday schedule which is quite similar to the ordinary schedule. We have been there several times on Easter Monday and never noticed any big difference. I wouldn't give it a thought. Museums and such are not affected.

There are 3 important holidays when many things close: Jan 1, May 1 and Dec 25. Assume things are closed those days unless you know otherwise but even then public transport is fine.

What day are you currently flying in and were you thinking of changing your flight for some other reason?

Also from the airport, you can certainly take a train in to town but after a long overnight flight I usually take a taxi from the taxi rank at CDG. It's a flat rate to either the Right Bank (53E) or Left Bank (58E). There are signs to the taxi rank when you leave the baggage claim area. Follow those and ignore anyone who comes up to you and asks if you want a ride.

This is a wonderful time of year to visit! If you have seasonal allergies I do recommend you bring a boatload of OTC allergy remedies. Last year the pollen from the Horse Chestnut trees drove me nuts in April.

Last year I arrived in Paris on Easter and didn’t notice things being closed the following day. Maybe I was just not being observant about things being closed, but I know it didn’t affect my day.

It's pretty much like any other Monday. People will be traveling home.

Public transportation will be on a holiday schedule; that is, less frequent, but still operating.
