With most museums closed on Monday, any other thoughts?

For our dates it can't be helped... so we are doing some garden picnic/walks and afternoon at louvre.

Some museums are closed Monday and others on Tuesday. Look at the websites for the museums that interest you. The Louvre and d'Orsay have been closed on different days in the past.

Yes, check museum schedules. The Orangerie is open. If you're interested, Monday is also a good day to visit the many covered passages, off the beaten track hidden villages like the Mouzaia district, La Villette and other parks, or take a walk along the canal Saint-Martin for starters. You'll find plenty to do.

Some cafes, restaurants and patisseries will be closed on Sunday and Monday, as well.
But you probably won't notice - there will be a lot of things open.

There are so many things to see and do in Paris besides museums. Embrace a museum-free day! Churches, markets, Arc de Triomphe, bike the Bois de Boulogne, enjoy the parks,

jacquemart-Andre will be open and may have special exhibit though just the main home and exhibits are special. It is only two blocks from Parc Monceau which is a charming park the locals frequent and admire. Two blocks in.a different direction is Cathedral Nevsky...a jewel box of a cathedral where Picasso was married. If travelling by metro, one ascends at the gate to Parc Monceau so quite handy to get to Jacquemart-Andre and the cathedral from the Parc as your base.

I arrived in Paris on a Monday and went straight to the Pompidou, where I got the museum pass, then to Notre Dame and the Conciergerie, then back to my hotel in the 6th where I wandered a bit before finding dinner.
