My wife and I will be changing trains in Paris Nordex station. Is there a place to safely store our luggage so that we can sneak in a few hours in Paris?
There is luggage storage at Gare du Nord. It opens at around 6:30 AM and closes at around 10. Your luggage is scanned and then stored. Make sure to allow for time spent waiting to check or pick up your luggage.
The storage is electronic lockers that only take coins. There are change machines but they are not especially reliable so you need to stock up on one and two euro coins. The lockers don't have keys but will print out a receipt that gives a one-time-only combination to unlock them - DON'T LOSE THE RECEIPT.
The station is not very well signed, the left luggage is down a stairway or escalator that is in one corner of the concourse, near the fenced-off Eurostar platforms.
Don't know when your trip is but the left luggage area can fill up - be prepared in case it is. You may have to wait for someone to claim theirs then follow them in - we have waited more than once - also ask them what size their locker is. You may need more than one small or a large depending on what you are checking.
