Paris: No More EasyBus to/from airport

Le Figaro is reporting today that the contract company that has been supplying EasyJet with its EasyBus service has decided to stop service as of today, Friday September 30th. (the company was attacked in court by other service providers for "concurrence deloyale" -- i.e. providing too cheap a service -- and rather than waiting for the verdict, decided to hang up the towel.)

It's possible that EasyJet might find another company to contract with to provide the service, but for now, no EasyBus!

This is distressing because I loved the EasyBus service. Thanks for letting everyone know.

Everyone I knew who took the EasyBus service (and granted that was only two people) complained about their bus never showing up. Both ended up taking taxis. Generally speaking it got horrible reviews so I am not surprised that it is shutting down.

I took EasyBus and I wouldn't do it again. I'd never take it to the airport as it's too unreliable. I found it was not really great even from the airport to the city. Poor signage at CDG, extremely late bus and they charged way more than advertised - it was 10 Euros each. I cab would have been way quicker and way simpler. We spent at least an hour walking around looking for the bus stop outside - there was no signed stop at all.

There are two RATP buses that run from CDG to the city, about every 20 minutes and the fare is about 5 euro. There are pick-up stops at each terminal. The 350 terminates at Gare de l'Est and the 351 at Pl de la Nation. I could never understand the excitement about EasyBus. It was unreliable from the beginning.

I also booked an Easy Bus from home for my arrival in Paris. My booking was for noon. I followed the directions on where to meet them but no bus (and no signage to make me think there might be a bus). I asked at an information desk and they said they run roughly every 45 minutes. I didn't want to wait around to see when they might show up, then take an hour to get downtown. The Easy Bus website also stated specifically that your booking was only for the trip you booked. You could use your ticket for another bus within an hour of your planned arrival on a space available basis.

I decided to write off the 2 euros I had spent for the booking and instead take the RER/metro into town (10 euro). The RER is faster anyway. It gets you downtown in about 45 minutes while a bus, shuttle or taxi will take better than an hour.

I travel carry-on only. This trip I had under 20 lbs in a daypack for my 18 day trip. In the future, I'll just plan to take RER. I'd only take a taxi if I had luggage that would make public transportation difficult.
