Paris museum pass...what places require reservations

I will buy the Paris Museum Pass (PMP) for an upcoming Dec 2021 trip to Paris, family of 4.

I just made free reservations at the Louvre, Saint Chappelle, which will work with PMP... and separately I paid $ for timed tickets for Eiffel Tower, since it's not covered by PMP.

My question is: Which museums do I need to make reservations for when using the PMP, vs where I can just enter with the PMP? I want to visit many museums, but I can't find a list of where timed reservations are required...beyond Louvre and Saint Chappelle, where I already went online and booked the free reservations (under the "I have a PMP" category).

Thanks!

The PMP website does not provide the information I ask in this thread.

I want to know which places require reservations IN ADDITION TO the PMP

Most Paris museums right now require reservations. Assume any one you want to go does and go to their web site. You can't expect strangers to do that look up work for you. Right now I know that the Orsay, Louvre, Bourse and Carnavalet do -- the Petit Palais did not -- but that is just my recent experience.

Marc, it looks to me like the Museum Pass website does indicate when a museum requires reservations. You have to click on the "Read more" text for each one in the listing.

https://www.parismuseumpass.fr/t-en/musees_monuments_/.c/a-paris

For instance? It's noted in the Pompidou text that reservations are mandatory:

https://www.parismuseumpass.fr/t-en/musees_monuments_/centre-pompidou-musÉe-national-d-art-moderne?c=a-paris

Does this help? It actually doesn't look like many require it at all but, of course, you'll need to reference any not covered by the pass on their individual websites.

Louvre and Saint Chappelle require reservations. As does Eiffel Tower.

Orsay, Rodin, Arc de Triomphe don’t. Those are what I have looked up so far….one at a time.

Just hope this helps others.

Thanks so much Kathy!! You are awesome! I just went to the PMP website and you can quickly click on one museum at a time to see if reservations are required.

Yep, you can blow through them pretty quickly! :O)
I spent some time with the d'Orsay's website, just in case the Museum Pass site was wrong, but other than for groups above a certain number, didn't see anything there about required reservations.

Oh, and I don't know if you'd planned to explore the attractions outside of Paris that the pass covers but that's its own section on the website. Unless things have changed, it has often been recommended to book a tour for Versailles as the pass doesn't allow queue skipping at that one...or didn't last I knew. The pass doesn't cover tours but the $$ is said to be worth it as the line can be really long. I've no idea what it''ll look like in December of this year.

Enjoy Paris!

@marc.starnes1 - were you able to make a free reservation at the Louvre?

Please note that the "Read More" description on the PMP does not accurately reflect all instances in which an additional reservation is required. You must go to each museum's website to be sure. We're also headed to Paris in early December, so below is a list (NOT COMPLETE, these are only the museums that we are planning to visit) and whether a reservation is required:

Orangerie

Reservation required: yes (https://billetterie.musee-orangerie.fr/en-GB/faq-orangerie)

Reservation can be made online without PMP in hand: yes (https://billetterie.musee-orangerie.fr/en-GB/products-orangerie?famille=2019043555100408364); select Musée de l'Orangerie - Free of charge Reservation

Sainte-Chapelle

Reservation required: yes (http://www.sainte-chapelle.fr/en/Prepare-for-your-visit)

Reservation can be made online without PMP in hand: yes (https://tickets.monuments-nationaux.fr/en-GB/session-products); select I already have a ticket

Orsay

Reservation required: no (https://www.musee-orsay.fr/fr/articles/acces-horaires-tarifs-197704#anchor-navigation-1)

Arc de Triomphe

Reservation required: no (http://www.paris-arc-de-triomphe.fr/en/Prepare-for-your-visit/Visiting-safely-Covid-19)

Pompidou

Reservation required: website says they are "strongly recommended"

Reservation can be made online without PMP in hand: no

Rodin

Reservation required: no (https://www.musee-rodin.fr/en/plan-your-visit/plan-your-visit-musee-rodin#access)

We likely won't visit the Louvre on this visit, but obviously a reservation is required for that :)

Hope this helps!

I just left Paris and had the PMP.

St Chapelle & Conciergerie - unsure when anyone's going but there are enhanced security measures due to the trial btwn M-F. I did book timeslots for Saturday morning for both.

I did not make reservations for Rodin or Orsay (went to Orsay on a late Thursday as they're open until 9:45 pm), or the Pantheon, where I bought the PMP. The Liberation Museum in the 14th (across from the Catacombs) I also went to without reservation (not a PMP facility).

I also walked up to the Eiffel tower Thursday afternoon and bought a ticket.

I made reservations for the Carnavalet (free), Louvre, Versailles, St Chapelle and Conciergerie.

To double check, I checked every museum's website, because there are some specific statements within them about PMP holders and entry.

Yep, as COVID is a fluid situation, I would agree with checking the websites of the attractions you wish to see. LOL, the darn bug has also created its share of confusion, that's for sure!

Speaking for the Orsay, their site specifically states that reservations are not needed for individuals. It's different for GROUPS of 7 or more so reference the site if that's case.

https://www.musee-orsay.fr/fr/visite/groupes/adultes-tourisme-et-comites-dentreprise

The French version also states that PMP holders are entitled to free entry:
