Paris Museum Pass - Timed and Limited Entry

I am starting to plan a trip for October that is a postpone from April 2020. I have been to Paris once and will have 2 with me that have never been. I used the Paris Museum Pass last trip as I liked being able to pop in and out of museums without worrying about admissions (ie. If I want to go to the Rodin museum and only see the thinker - no guilt).

However, not sure how this is working with limited and timed entry. Online information is inconsistent and spotty.

Is the pass a good option right now or should we be booking timed entry for the big museums (Louvre, D'orsay, Versailles) directly through them?

Any advice is welcome!

We did the math, and it was less for us to pay for the museum pass than for the sites we wanted to visit individually. And gives us the freedom to stop in some of the smaller places for a short visit we might not have otherwise. Louvre, Versailles, Sainte Chapelle require a timed entry (and possibly others, but those are the big ones; Orsay does not currently require a reservation for pass holders). Louvre spots for museum pass holders are filling up, but still available for our trip in July at peak times. There are still tickets available even for this week for Sainte Chapelle. Will likely be even better for you in October unless another variant pops up. But you will need an entry time regardless of whether you have a pass or not. I would still do the math on all the places you think you might visit.
