We will be in Paris for 5 days this coming May and already have our timed tickets for the Louvre and Versailles. I am posting this as I am looking for some opinions on our thinking regarding the Paris Museum Pass....
Because of some issues with the Musee d'Orsay website (see other Forum posts on that topic) we are considering purchasing the Paris Museum Pass. We are thinking that the pass would provide the work around to allow us entrance into the Orsay (allbeit without the preferred timed ticket) but we would also be able to use it to visit two must sees which are the Arc de Triomphe and Sainte Chapelle (we see that you can purchase a timed ticket with the pass online here ahead of time). Plus we are thinking it allows for the possibility of some other potential visits that weren't must-dos but nice-to-dos like the Pantheon and Napolean's Tomb. Additionally we are thinking the pass allows us greater flexibility in our schedule.
Our other option is to skip buying the Paris Museum Pass, go to the Musee d'Orsay once in Paris and buy tickets onsite (we are unsure how long this line would be or if these tickets would be timed) and then purchase Arc and Chapelle tickets in advance online when they become available.
What do you think? Any feedback/suggestions on this are appreciated! Thanks.
When we visited the Orsay in April of 2023, there were 3 lines:
Timed ticket holders
Museum pass holders
No tickets or pass
We had the Museum Pass and we did go into smaller museums we would have passed up.
Thanks Barbara - great to know!
This option will not help with Musee d'Orsay, but there is another museum pass to consider.
I purchased the Passion Monuments Subscription..
It gives unlimited free admission to many sites in France and is valid for 1 year.
I will be using it in Paris for Sainte-Chapelle, Arc de Triomphe, Pantheon, Conceiergerie and, maybe, Hotel de la Marine. It's also saving me €30 on a concert ticket at Sainte-Chapelle in April.
They offer a single subscription for €45 and a €70 subscription for one person plus one guest.
I read your reply on the other thread about not being able to purchase with VISA. I usually purchase with AMEX so have not had the experience with VISA. I know you spoke with your CC company but you might also try to book on your phone if you used a laptop before. They do not have an app to purchase thru like some museums do.
If you feel this is the only way you can get the ticket then it may be worth it to you.
With the 2-day pass, it's actually 48 hours so can last over parts of 3 days. For instance, if you enter your first museum at 11A on Day 1, you can enter your last museum by 1059 on Day 3. You'd clearly not want to cut it that fine so just using that for illustration.
