I know prices for several cultural institutions in Paris are going up in January. Do you know if the Paris Museum Pass price will also be increasing? If I buy it now at the "old" price, will I be able to use it in May when the new, higher prices are in effect? I can't find any way of contacting them directly.
I don't see a price hike from the 85E/105E/125E that is the current price. I believe this already includes a price increase from last year but I can't be certain. The FAQ say that the pass is good with no time limit on the first activation.
I'm assuming you have run the numbers and know that this purchase will work for your visit. I think Rick may still recommend it but most of the regular Paris visitors no longer find it a good value. There are circumstances where it is a benefit but with the need for timed entries to some places, sometimes it's easier just to book directly with a venue.
Do you know which places you want to visit?
The Passion Monuments Subscription can be a good value especially if there are 2 of you traveling together.
It Paris it includes Sainte-Chapelle, the Conciergerie, the Pantheon, Hotel de la Marine, Arc de Triomphe and the Towers of Notre Dame. Unlike the Paris Museum Pass, the Passion Subscription is valid for one year from date of purchase and offers a few other benefits.
I should have added that I’m an ICOM member, so I’m free most (if not all) places. The pass would just be for my husband. We’re hoping to visit the Louvre, Orsay, Sainte-Chapelle, Pantheon, Versailles, Arc de Triomphe and potentially others like the Cluny. If I add those up, especially with the increased prices, the Museum Pass seems well worth it!
The Louvre is the most problematic as they have limited slots for Museum Pass holders. Currently ticketing is open through the end of March so keep an eye on the official Louvre website and be ready to secure times as soon as they open for your dates.
You’ll need timed entry for Sainte-Chapelle but they don’t seem to limit Museum Pass entries.
Editing to add (because I was on my phone last night and it was too hard to add more, haha): You'll also want timed entries for Versailles and the Orsay. You will not need timed entries for the Cluny and I've not ever encountered a need for them at the Pantheon although I've not done the panorama view. I've not been up the Arc de Triomphe in recent memory (but did go see the draped installation from Christo's design).
I'll also say that I took Jean's advice and got the Passions Monuments Subscription last October and it was excellent. It paid for itself in just a couple of days. For context I also got the Amis du Louvre and the Carte Blanche for the Orsay and Orangerie for my 3-week visit. I'm headed back in April so I will be able to get another visit in using the passes.
