We are looking at getting the Paris Museum Pass for 2-days (48 hours). If we started using it at 11am on a Monday, saw some sights Monday and Tuesday, and then went to Versailles on Wed. and entered the palace by 9 or 10am, is that Ok? Or will the fact that our 48 hours runs out at 11am Wed. mean that we can't get into Versailles? Do they look at the ticket at each of the parts of the palace (I think there are 3 areas in the palace grounds). Could it be possible we get into the palace, but then our time is up and we don't get to see the gardens?
Are they really 48 hours? They used to be two days and would expire in your case Tuesday.
The gardens at Versailles are not accessible by pass; if there is no fountain day then anyone can just walk in free; if it is a fountain day that is not covered by the pass and you h ave to pay to get in.
I think the pass covers the Trianon and Hameau -- not sure, but believe so and I would think that your pass would then have expired since it would have to be scanned. The wider estate -- the grounds and canal etc are a free park for all.
Are you sure it is worth having a pass? Since most places require timed tickets the pass is of limited usefulness unless you really will do enough different things that it costs out.
Yes, they are really 48/96/144hours. And Yes, I’ve used one to enter a museum on the morning of Day 3 for a 48 hour pass. I entered the first museum about noon on Day 1 and entered my last museum on Day 3 at 9:30. The clock for the hourly limit starts when you scan into your first museum.
I wanted to be able to answer your question but I am stumped about entry to the Petit Trianon, etc. You could definitely enter the Palace if you got there before 11A on Day 3 but no experience trying to get into the locations further in to Versailles. It’s been a few years since I was there and it was before they changed the passes to be a certain #of hours.
Can you change your Versailles visit to Tuesday? What museums were you going to do on Tuesday?
Tuesday we have a fashion tour already arranged, which is what makes it hard to fit everything else in. We could start the pass after the tour, say 2pm on Tuesday, do Orsay and possibly Sainte Chapelle that afternoon (that seems like a big day to me...) then Versailles on Wed. and then Louvre Thursday morning, and I guess we'd get it all in. But I"m concerned about doing a 2-3 hour walking tour, a museum and sainte chapelle all in one day. This plan would leave Monday as the free day, when I was trying to put it later in our trip. But I suppose Monday we could do the Rick STeves walking tour, and see Eiffel tower. Any thoughts? That's if we do the museum pass.
We could just book individually, although I worked it out and it is more costly. But we could do events Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and leave Wed. to sit at a cafe or rest or see what's in the neighborhood where we stay.
