Paris museum pass and timed entries?

I need clarification, please. If we buy the Paris museum pass, which saves us money and also time by avoiding the ticket buying lines, can we/do we still get a timed entry? Or to get a timed entry must we buy individual tickets for each museum? Thanks.

No.

But saving time and/or money is not assured simply because you purchase a museum pass. You may be wasting money depending upon how you visit museums.

Anyone who shows up with either an advance purchase ticket or a pass automatically skips the ticket lines.

With the Museum Pass you don't need timed entry tickets. You just walk in with your MP and go through security (I'm assuming you are talking about Museums that the pass actually covers). You are not limited by the MP on what time to go in. You can come/go as your please :)

For Versailles (and I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong), I believe you can use the Museum Pass for your General Admission and if you purchase the King's Apartment Tour, you will get a timed entry that will let you skip the notoriously long security line.

Thank you!

I've looked at the museum prices for the museums that the pass covers and that we'll tour (and we're seeing Versailles, too), and there is a price break with the pass.

And also thanks for the advice about the King's apartment tour... I somehow forgot about signing up for that.

One other Versailles question, if you don't mind...

It sounds as though the best way to avoid the crowds is no weekend day or Tuesday - and then tour the gardens and other chateaus first... Saving the main chateau for later in the afternoon when the crowds subside... True??

Thanks again.

You´re not going to avoid the incessant crowds at Versailles. It has become a madhouse with bus loads of people arriving throughout the day.

I would give serious consideration to replacing Versailles with a trip to Fontainebleau, Chantilly, or Vaux le Vicomte.

We just came back from visiting Versailles and the Museum Pass does not let you skip either the security line or the line for those with tickets. The plus side is that while the line is long, it moves fast.
In most of the museums in Paris that the pass covers, the Museum Pass allowed us to skip the ticket line, but not the security line.

At most museums in Paris you use a separate shorter security line if you have the pass; this is gold at the Orsay, and useful at the Louvre and Orangerie. It is not the case at Versailles or Ste. Chapelle. If you stood in the long security line at the Pyramid or at the Musee d'Orsay then you missed some of the value of the pass.
