Paris - Musee Jacquemart-Andre and Arc

Hello!

I love that the Museum and the Arc are near each other, so I can do both on the same day

I just have a few questions:

Is the app for the museum worth downloading?

Would you say a the Museum can be done in a couple of hours? I DO tend to read every info card, lol...

Is afternoon tea on Saturday worth it?

Thank you !!!

I love that museum! I was there in the morning as it first opened, and it was very enjoyable to see the rooms uncrowded and also liked the architecture & design style of the building. I was probably there for 2 - 2.5 hours, but I didn’t read all of the signs.

Avirosemail, what a brilliant trip report!

I think I’m really going to love this museum ….and, if I end up doing lunch or tea, I will plan accordingly!

Thank you!

Jean, thanks!

I’ll make a point to get there early enough to have the rooms mostly to myself …it does make a difference!

I already love this place!

I enjoy this museum a lot although I have not been since it reopened in Sept 2024 from its closure for a refurb. I tried to go in October when I was in Paris but they were having a special exhibition of work from the Borghese Gallery in Rome and it was completely sold for the days I had open to visit. If you are going on a weekend or a day when other museums are closed (Monday/Tuesday) definitely get a timed entry. I'd probably get one anyway.

I've had Sunday Brunch at this cafe and it was wonderful. Ditto on the pastry case...my word! I'd say Afternoon Tea would be spectacular even though this is not strictly a French "thing"!

I'll add that I am not a person who goes somewhere to be seen. Although I've visited this museum a few times I do not agree with this statement "that for a good many visitors the attraction involves seeing themselves being seen." although I honestly don't really watch others. But you should go and draw your own conclusions about the mansion, the art and perhaps the other visitors if you happen to notice them.

OK, I'm changing my answer on Afternoon Tea offered here. I just got into the menu section and it doesn't look like what I would call an "Afternoon Tea". Just looks like a cup of tea and a pastry. I'd say this is fine if you need to have a break while you are visiting the museum but I would not strictly go just for Afternoon Tea here, if that makes sense?

I have finally figured out that if I am going to be in any museum more than about 2 hours I need to have a sit down break and something to eat/drink to help my brain from being in overload. That's just me, though!

Pam, I’m definitely not going anywhere to be seen, lol …I’m going to the museum because I want to !

There is afternoon tea on weekends….but they don’t show a menu. Can I ask where you found that link? There are no menus on the website

If I go to the museum in the morning, I’ll need to eat before I go to the Arc. Thinking about it, maybe I shouldn’t have a relatively long lunch …maybe I should have a quickie. In that case, I need to start looking for quickish lunch near the Arc…

Thank you!!

Oops, Pam - never mind, I saw the menus!

You’re right, the tea is nothing truly special

So I’ll probably just have lunch there - especially as the area around the Arc is not great for food
