Paris Metro pass and Museum Pass

Travelling in France in July 2018 and would like to get the Museum Pass for 4 days and the Metro Pass (for convenience as well as cost savings). I have researched the Visitor metro Pass and also read about the Navigo pass. We arrive on a Sunday and leave Paris on the Friday so it appears the Navigo pass would be the best. Not sure where to buy this though? I read that it’s easiest to purchase the Museum pass at the Visitor Travel info Desk in CDG when we arrive. Can someone confirm if this is open 24/7. We arrive Sunday evening. Also, can we purchase the Navigo pass at the same place?
Appreciate the help of those who know!

I can't help you with the Navigo pass, except to agree that it might work for you since you arrive on a Sunday.

According to the airport website, tourist info desks are open in each terminal from the first to the last flight, so you should be OK Sunday evening unless it's very late. You can also buy the Museum Pass at any participating museum or sight, visitor centers at the rail stations, and elsewhere as well. Look at "Buy" on the upper right of the website for locations. We buy it at the first participating sight we visit, preferably a smaller museum without long lines. Whenever and wherever you buy it, don't fill in the start date until you actually begin using it, since the days run from then.

Bonjour,
We recently toured around Paris for eight days and upon our arrival we picked up our museum passes at CDG. We arrived mid-day but I am sure they have extended hours. You buy the Navigo pass at any Metro line station that has staff in the booth. We stayed near the Eiffel Tower and purchased ours at the Bir Hakiem Metro station. We made color copies of our passport photo's and trimmed them down a bit and that worked fine. The staff put them together for us and we were off sightseeing, worked great! Just go through the turnstiles quickly or it will not let you pass through. Some turnstiles don't acknowledge with a sound or green indicator that your good to go so you just swipe and go through briskly like a local.

You may be able to buy both from a Tabac in the neighborhood where you will be staying. I don't know whether they will be open on Sunday but you can get them both on Monday. You can also purchase the Navigo from an attendant at a Metro stop. Not all have attendants. There are machines but I've never purchased from there.

Museum Passes are also available at any museum that accepts it for admission. You'd want to be cautious about that by going to a smaller museum first. If you tell us where you are staying we may be able to make a suggestion on which museum might be easiest.

May I ask what is a Taboc?
We arrive Sunday evening about 8:30pm and are staying fairly close to the Arc de Triomphe at the Hotel Regent Garden.
Thanks for the information.

A "tabac" is a shop selling cigars and cigarettes.
Most of them are open from 8:30 AM to about 7:30 PM.
Some may be closed on Sundays.

I don't think you can get a Paris Museum Pass from a tabac. The usual places are the tourist information desks, the museums themselves, or the box office desks in FNAC stores.

The Navigo pass is great, but is good Sunday through Saturday, so you shouldn’ use it to get from CDG into Paris. If you think you’ll walk many places, you may be fine with a book of transit tickets. As for the museum pass, it’s often best to buy it at a smaller (less touristy) museum since the lines are shorter

You may purchase a Navigo Découverte card at any métro/RER station. Cost is 5€ for the card which must be loaded with a fare to be usable. There are many fare options but the zone 1-5, weekly fares begin on Monday, end on Sunday and cost 22.80€.

RER stations and some métro stations have sales windows at which the card may be purchased. At métro stations with information windows only, the card is purchased at any ticket kiosk, menus are available in English, and the receipt is take to the agent and exchanged for the actual card. Any photo just a bit smaller than a passport photo will suffice for the card. Be sure to print your name in the space provided as the card is non transferable.

Fares may be loaded onto the Navigo Découverte card at any sales RATP sales window, ticket kiosk, or at any retailer, such as tabacs, displaying the RATP sign.

Museum passes may be purchased at any museum or tourist office. Alternatively, you may purchase tickets in advance on any museum´s own website and use the same museum entrances as do museum pass holders. Museums passes are not always the best value unless you are visiting a lot of museums.

I'm not sure what airline you're flying. Last summer we flew American to CDG. I looked at the CDG terminal map to see where the TI desks were located. When we took the escalator up to exit baggage claim and went through the exit door, there was a TI desk with no line. Minutes later we had our Museum Pass and were on our way. We had planned for the Picasso Museum as our first stop and I couldn't be 100% certain from reading the website they would have them for sale.

Yes. actually I purchased my 6-day museum pass last September from the Tabac down the street from my hotel. It has the pink Museum Pass logo posted outside.

BTW, my hotel also had the Museum Pass logo on their door so I asked the Reception about it but all they had were the 2-day passes.

Barbara does bring up a good point about TI desk hours at CDG. It does depend on which terminal at CDG will be your arrival terminal. The TI desks are open until 8:30-8:45 pm everyday. Looking at the Paris Museum Pass website, it looks like the price to have it shipped to your home in the US is pretty steep.
