I am traveling from Paris to Marseille in June and am deciding on "easiest" mode of transportation...Train or plane? I will be in no hurry and will rent a car in Marseille.

Train. TGV is fast (most of the way), more comfortable, begins and ends in the centre of the cities rather than airports on the edge of, or beyond, the cities. Price can be competitive if bought well ahead (typically three months but the train operators sometimes put the main routes on sale earlier.)

Took this train from Marseille to Paris earlier this month. St Charles train station is very modern and easy to navigate. Our platform was announced 20 minutes before the departure and they checked tickets prior to boarding.
