I will be in Paris during the marathon and want to avoid that area completely. Any suggestions on what to do that day without leaving the city?
Is there a specific area do you want to avoid? I ask because the route for the marathon runs through the entire city but mostly along the river and empties out pretty soon after the racers have passed through. I was there for the April 2016 marathon and it had zero impact on my day. I had no idea that the marathon was scheduled or happening and did not realize that it had even occurred until I went over to the area near the Champs Elysees that afternoon. Unless you are walking around along the route, I don't think you will even notice it. That being said, just pick things to do that day that are relatively far north or south of the river like going to Montmartre or Montparnasse and avoid the Bois de Bologne and Bois de Vincennes if you want to avoid the race.
What is the exact date for the Paris Marathon? I will be in Paris April 19 - 23.
Thanks!
The marathon is on April 8.
