Paris Lodging

My wife and I are traveling to Paris for a week in June 2025 (with friends for three days) and looking for reasonably priced hotel or apartment in a good location. I have looked at the big named hotels and most are out of my $300 per night budget. Is that number realistic? It's been 18 years since we were last in Paris and I'm not really sure of the best area to stay in. but would like to be close to public transportation. Also plan to use the Hop On Hop Off bus tours for sightseeing that we have used in London and Rome. Any thoughts or suggestions on the above will be appreciated. Thank you.

I usually start my search at booking.com and use their map feature to see what's available where; you're late to the party to get a hotel, June is around the corner...

My thoughts are the same as above. Get on Booking.com NOW! June is functionally the day after tomorrow, if no today. We like to stay in the Latin Quarter, easy to get to many of the major sights and public transportation.

Jim, Paris will be full of visitors in June and prices will be high. You have waited a bit too long to get the best priced places but all is not lost. Like the other responders, I suggest you start looking ASAP. Take a look at the Astotel hotel group to see if they have anything available in budget. It might be tough. I just looked and many of their better priced properties are sold out for June. I assume that $300 per night is for a room for two people and that you will not be sharing a room with friends. Take look at Grand Hotel des Balcons, Hotel Apostrophe, and Hotel Bastille Speria.

Yes, you want to book ASAP. I will actually offer a few of my preferred hotels, about 300€ per night for two.

These are in the Marais:

I do not recommend the HOHO buses. They are expensive and you'll spend too much time stuck in traffic. Take a river cruise for a quick overview of the city (I like the Vedettes du Pont Neuf) and learn to use the métro. After walking, the métro is the best way to move about Paris.

Look at staying a little way out of the center near a metro stop. For what I think the best map of the metro , google THE NEW PARIS METRO MAP

Pavillon de la Reine is a wonderful hotel (I loved my stay there) but they have nothing available in June for under $500 per night and Hotel du Petit Moulin is at around 400€ per night.

Just got back from Paris and would recommend https://www.hotelvieuxsaule.com/en/ in the north Marais (3rd). Just off Rue de Bretagne with its great cafe scene. And the first hotel I always check for availability is the Jeanne d'Arc: https://hoteljeannedarc.com. Best location in the south Marais - Place du Marche Sainte Catherine, near Place des Vosges. Both are under $300/night. The off-season rate I paid at the Vieux Saule was $180-ish.

Love jeanne d'arc in the Marais.

Also stayed in Paris France Hotel which was delightful.

Always use booking.com. Will be in Paris next week but usually stay in apts. I also usually book 6-9 months out. Good luck.
