PARIS Last weekend of AUG.

There aren't really tons of summer crowds in Paris in August. Most Europeans will go to the mountains or the beach for vacation, not to the city.

For example, my niece is coming this week, and last Thursday and Friday I bought her tickets for the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre this week without any problem.

Was in Paris last week August 2025. Not very crowded anywhere (except Versailles),including Notre Dame, Opera Garnier, Saint Chapelle. Weather coolish, rained most days, with occasional sunshine. A few smaller shops were closed, but everything else open

August in Paris can be a disappointment. That is the countrywide month of vacation, and a lot of places will be closed. Tourist attractions will still be open, but a lot of the smaller Mom and Pop stores and restaurants will be closed. Why not wait another week or two and go in Sept instead?

The overall trip is work related...so dates are set.

Paris is empty in August, except around well know tourist destinations. Hotels offer incentives for those who visit during August.

If you are visiting this weekend, expect things to pickup starting Monday, the 24th, as small businesses start to reopen and activity crescendos into September, arguably the busiest time of year in Paris.

This year, the last weekend is Aug 29/30, quite late in the month: most shops and businesses should have reopened by then!
It is a good time to come here: less crowded than September (which has a lot of business travel), not as hot as the middle of summer (one can't rule out high temperatures this year, but at least the nights are longer and give more respite).
