Paris Itinerary help - I think I'm doing too much

I'm going to Paris in a few weeks for 4.5 days, partly by myself and partly with a friend.
I haven't been to Paris in over 20 years so this is sort of like a first time visit but I am skipping some of the major attractions because I've already been. I have prepared myself a pretty detailed plan for the 2.5 days I'll be by myself and have a loser plan for the 2 days I'll be with my friend, mostly planned by her as I'm tagging along on her trip.

So, I think I'm trying to cram in way too much but I'm not sure what to cut out or move around, I'd appreciate help/suggestions. I do like to have an agenda for when I'm by myself because if I have a goal I'll go do it and if I don't, I might just spend the whole time trying to decide what I want to do.
My interests/goals for this trip are architecture, art (but basically impressionists through 1950) photography and enjoying french food

Arrive Friday morning 7:30am taxi to hotel (between Oberkampf and Republique), drop off luggage

Go to Du Pain et Des Idees for pastry and coffee

Wander over to Galleries Lafayette, Brontibay

If you're arriving from the States or Canada on Friday, it is extremely unlikely that you will have the energy to do much of what you have planned that day. That would be a difficult itinerary for one day even if you're not jetlagged (unless you're the Energizer Bunny.)

Yes, I will be arriving from the US. I have to do something that day as I'm assuming I won't be able to check into the hotel until later. So I figured it was best to keep occupied and just push through the jetlag and go to bed early. I was thinking I could skip the shopping, actually I don't really want to shop, just see the dome at Galleries Lafayette, maybe get a drink on the roof top.

What other suggestions are there for first day activities?

I wouldn't want to cross town on arrival day.

If you land at 7.30 am, you'll be in town at 10.30 am or so. So you have 4-5 hours until check in: i'dd just get a pastry at the nearest boulangerie and sit down for coffee at the nearest café (no need to look for a specific place in jet-lag conditions) to start with, then maybe do the Galeries Lafayette and beer shopping part as it's not too far? You could walk there from République.

I may be missing something but that first day doesn't seem too arduous to me. It's mostly walking around, which is a good idea on arrival day after an overnight flight. I don't know the Cite de l'architecture & Patrimoine -- is that a museum you plan to visit, or just where you'll get the pass? A museum might not be a good idea on arrival day. And I'm not sure why you want the pass, since you'll be visiting only a few places that take it. Maybe you've done the math and figured out how it saves you money, and it probably would save you time at the Orsay.

You have particular cafes and stores in mind, for which you may have good reasons, but pastries and Belgian beer and such can be found in many places that might be more convenient. You're not really "cramming in" that much, if you're more flexible about where you'll eat and shop. Your basic sightseeing agenda is Trocadero and Arc on day 1, Orangerie and Orsay (and maybe Pantheon) on day 2, Ste-Chappelle and Conciergerie on morning 3. That's not overdoing it if you have the energy you seem to.

EDIT -- I take it that you're from Walla Walla?

Cite de l'architecture & Patrimoine Is the architecture museum in Paris and there is an exhibit there I want to see. So with that, plus the other places I just about break even with the museum pass. And I think it will save me time.

I know I’ll be tired the first day but I can’t think of another day to fit in that museum.

Thanks for the input! I’m happy my plan seem ok.
