Paris itinerary - Aunt and 18 yr old niece

I have a tentative itinerary but certainly don't want to have to rush. Is this too aggressive? Would want to also have time to relax and take in markets, parks. June 7-18

Day 1 (Thurs) - arrive from US into CDG 7am. Hotel in 5e. Metro: Place Monge. Pantheon and dome climb, Luxembourg Gardens. Depending upon how we feel, also Sainte Sulpice and Montparnass Tower.

Day 2 (Fri) - Sainte Chapelle, Montparnasse Tower (if not on day 1). Rue Cremieux. Eat on Ile St. Louise.

Day 3 (Sat) Take Metro line 6 for views. Arc de Triomphe, Tracadero, Walk Champs de Elysees, Petit Palais. Possibly some of this on day 2.

Day 4 - (Sun) Army Museum/Napoleon's Tomb. Eiffel Tower tickets for 4:30pm. Trocadero (if not on day 3). Rent Velib bikes (if avail).

Day 5 - (Mon) 1:55pm train to Colmar arrive 4:30pm. Tour Colmar on our own.

Day 6 - (Tue) Colmar and 4 village tour. Afternoon on our own.

Day 7 - (Wed) Depart Colmar 11:52 am, arrive Paris 3:17pm. Check into hotel in 3e. Walk around Marais, Rue St. Antoine, Place des Vosges, SoMa. Place de la Bastille (if time). (or some of this Thursday)

Looks pretty good to me. I’ll add some comments if that’s OK!

Day 1: Are either of you Midnight in Paris fans? If yes, the church steps where Gil is picked up in the time traveling taxi is just behind and to the left as you face the Pantheon. It’s Saint-Etienne-du-Mont and the steps are on the left side. The church is quite interesting as well. Has a double helix rood screen and the supposed bones of Sainte-Genevieve, the patron saint of Paris. Lunch might be fun at La Terrasse du Madame, a terrace cafe invthe Luxembourg Gardens right as you enter from the Pantheon. It’s next to the Medici Fountain. Here’s a short youtube walk with RS guide Vero around the fountain.

Day 2: If it’s still there when you visit, there is an interesting exhibition on Gastronomy in France at the Concergerie which is right next to Sainte-Chapelle.

Day 3: Just saw the special exhibition at Petit Palais yesterday on Sarah Bernhardt. It might still be on in June.

Day 4: You can walk right by Square Rapp and also the Lavirotte building at 29 Avenue Rapp going from the Army Museum to the ET.

Days 5/6: In Colmar, go to the Tourist Information and get the walking tour map. Each stop has a QR code on the sign with the information about the stop so hopefully you’ll have a data plan! I took the little tourist train last April when I was there mostly because I was pooped and wanted to sit down but it was pretty awful. The really good sights are not where the train can access so that was a waste, lol. BTW, I loved Colmar! I spent 2 full days there so you can really fill your 2 half days!

Day 8: There was a huge line at Orangerie for those without timed entry when I went last week.

Day 10: This feels like its a lot. Unless one of you feels like it’s a deal breaker, I’d probably do Opera Garnier next trip. Along with Parc Monceau, lol.

You’ll have the start of a list for your next trip!

Sorry I didn’t look up the dates for the special exhibitions I mentioned. I’m traveling and on my phone and it’s harder for me to do, lol.

What a fun time you’ll have!!

I would also check out some residential areas in Paris Parc Monceau (which you list) , the 7th (next to Army Museum)...in Alsace there are far more beautiful places compared to Colmar which I was not personally impressed compared to smaller towns along the wine route. I would go to Strasbourg which I think is actually a beautiful city (in the city center) and then neighboring towns like Obernai and Barr...

Sounds like a wonderful trip and pretty doable. It’s good to have a plan but don’t be crushed if you need to skip something in lieu of some cafe time and people watching!

You need to account for jet lag on your arrival day in Paris. You have scheduled too much that day.

Day 4 seems light and Day 10 seems too busy. Maybe move your Opera tour to day 4? Also, we've never seen the Army Museum but just fit in the Opera and it was fantastic! Personally I would prioritize that over the Army museum.

Don't forget to go back to Trocadero one evening to see the Eiffel Tower sparkle at night!

Also, I would prioritize the Orsay over the Orangerie. The Orsay has much more to see.

ps, have you been to Versailles before? That would be a better day trip than Disney. IMHO!

It looks like a great trip.

In agreement that I would rather see Versailles than Disney, but we all have different favorites.

I took my niece for a week several years ago, and Versailles and the hamlet and gardens was a real highlight.

2 other things I dont see on you itinerary : Seine boat cruise in the evening and galleries Lafayette. For great shopping and can’t miss rooftop.
