Paris in March with 3 teens

We recently took advantage of some great fare deals and are going to Paris at the end of March with our 3 teenage boys.

We have an apartment hotel secured near the Opera Garnier, which is not ideal, but could be worse and the price was right. It’s near a metro stop, so that will help.

We arrive and depart on a Saturday, and I’m wondering if the Navigo Metro Card will be our best option, or a Carnet of tickets. We plan on Versailles on Thursday, and otherwise will do the typical tourist things (boys first time): Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Louvre, etc.

I’m also wondering if a taxi for 5 is available from CDG or if it would be best to take the Roissy Bus since we’ll be so close to the Opera, and if the prices will be comparable.

I’m sure I’ll have more questions as the furious planning continues. I’m getting tickets for the Eiffel Tower today. Thanks!

The first time I was in Paris 3 years ago with my 13yo I bought a carnet of 10 tickets for the metro and used two. We walked everywhere, and in subsequent trips with all my kids, we have walked everywhere. I find that the walking is part of the experience of any place. For us, the pleasure is in the immersion into the city, not just in ticking sites. Fwiw. By the end of a few days, my kids have a sense of direction and recognize landmarks and can walk us back to our rental-apartment

I agree that Paris is a great city for walking, and I’m sure we will walk quite a bit, but my husband has a chronic condition that will make it hard for him to walk most of the day. I suspect that we will be taking the Metro more than we normally would if everyone were healthy.

The flat taxi fare from CDG to anywhere on the Right Bank of the river is fifty euros. By contrast the fare on Roissybus will be 12.50 for each of you, so for five the taxi will be cheaper if there are any at the rank that can take five people plus the driver - a normal taxi will be too small but I've read that there are larger taxis available - just a question of whether they are easy to find at CDG.
