Paris in March?

We are bringing our 12 year old granddaughter to Paris. We have either the 3rd week of March or the 2nd week of June to go. We would rather go in March for many reasons but I worry the temps will be uncomfortable. Thoughts? Experiences? I'm afraid of the crowds in June.

I last went to Paris in 2024 and flew over on St Patrick's day.... the 18th & 19th were PERFECT - sunny, highs well into the 60s/low 70s. The 3 days after were just slightly chillier but well into the 50s. Rained the last full day I was there (and then it was wet for the remainder of the month).

We were in France Feb-March 2026. When we landed, daffodils were everywhere. It was rainy in Feb. In March, it was perfect. Go in March.

Thank you so much for responding!! We live in Minnesota and our summers are so short. We hate to give up June time if we can!

There’s a reason why “April in Paris” is a cliché - because it is PERFECT. Late March is usually similar: balmy, breezy, and blue-skied.

I find June in Paris to be Hell on Earth. Crazy crowded, and brutally hot.

I vote for March. 😄

Add me to the March chorus. I go in March every year and the weather is almost always perfect. Coming from Minnesota, you'll think it's great.

You'll have to weigh the different variables given these 2 options.

For me I pick June for different reasons, the weather factor is only one. This past summer I was in Paris the 2nd week in July

I was there with 2 of my grandkids in late March and very early April last year and the weather was delightful. I highly recommend going then. And FWIW, we’re from Minnesota, too. 😊

March 19-28th will be peak Easter travel so if you are traveling around those dates, be prepared for crowds.

I have only been in middle of June - and there was only ONE time in over a week that we experienced crowds. That was opening time of D’Orsay museum on the day the Lourve was closed. Which we’d researched and knew of, which is why we walked on past the thousands queuing to get inside - and we didn’t wait or go in.

Otherwise, we had a delightful time and a mix of rainy days and warm sunny days. We found there was nothing to fear- just good sound planning advised

For example we arrived to see Napoleon’s tomb 15-20m before opening and were first in. Had place to ourselves then enjoyed rest of museum without crowds while the tomb filled. Visited Lourve late afternoon, same with some other popular sites and never waited more than 5min anyplace. Never felt crowded. Never had to wait for a meal.

So I’d say- whichever is better for you in your life plans is the best time to go. June may need more flexibility or thinking ahead but it would be lovely too.

I was in Paris this year for two weeks in Feb-March.
It was great weather, not cold at all, and by the last two days I was wearing t-shirts, sunscreen and sunglasses.
Climate change is a real thing.
Pack layers.

In response to : "March 19-28th will be peak Easter travel "
French schools are in session, so it isn't travel season, or vacation for French students. Their spring breaks begin in April. I don't know about the other European countries.
