Paris in June Too Crowded?

My niece is interested in doing the Week in Paris tour, starting the 5th of June. I usually don't travel in Europe during the summer months because of the crowds of tourists, not to mention the heat. What is your experience with the crowds during the first week of June in Paris? I'd prefer the middle of May, but we may not have a choice.

I suspect that you won't have any problems in Paris in June, as it's still somewhat "spring shoulder season". If you're taking a tour, you'll be in a nicer hotel (probably with A/C) and all the museum tours and entrance tickets will be taken care of. I wouldn't have any hesitation at all going to Paris at that time of year.

Paris in June Too Crowded ?

Crowded with art.
Crowded with lovers.
Crowded with music.
Crowded with food.
Crowded with aromas of bread baking.
Crowded with sidewalk tables.
Crowded with interesting shops.

All good crowds to me.

Two weeks will not make much of a difference, I have been in May, June, July, August,Sept and October.

Places that are normally crowded , like Louvre etc will be crowded April thru season , so really just go and relax
Ps this year we will be there first week of June!

We love to travel early June. Seems most places we go are not yet into a tourist swing, it stays light so long, and the weather has been great. We were in Paris mid June and it didn't seem very crowded, except at the big sites. But it didn't feel crowded to me because it is so spread out.

I've been to Paris twice in June and thought it was just fine. I could only do summer travel for years because of my daughter....we did it all in June, July, August...Venice, Paris. It was never so crowded that we couldn't manage. And heat? It's usually okay. We were there once during some pretty hot weather in an apartment with no A/C (in Colmar)...it slowed us down a bit but we still had a great time.

So you would rather visit a deserted Paris?

If you have a chance to go to Paris, you should go. Even in June. We were in Paris in early June 2015, and we obviously weren't the only tourists in town. And while some of the hot spots were predictably very busy (e.g., Eiffel Tower; Louvre), there were plenty of quiet streets, small parks, cafes, etc. where you could get away from the crowds if you look for them - usually just a couple blocks away from some pretty touristy sites. Stand in front of the Notre Dame and you'll join a large group of people almost any time of day - walk 3-4 blocks down and across the Seine and into the Marais, and you'll have some of the most lovely streets and cafes that will have few tourists.

keep in mind that the European Football Championships are being hosted by France June 10 - July 10. Paris is a host city. In addition to the regular crowds there will be hoards of soccer fans, especially on June 10 which is opening day - with France playing their first match in Paris. Book a hotel early, pick a team to support and join the fun!

Since you're taking a tour, you don't have to worry about hotels being full. I doubt that football fans are going to impact tourist sights very much, and your tour guide and organizers will surely take that into account. Go when you can and enjoy it.

I watch the Roland Garros tennis tournament every year, last week of May, first week of June, so I'm well aware of weather conditions. It can be swelteringly hot one day, chilly and very rainy the next, and back and forth some more. For the event, the city of Paris puts up a huge screen in front of the Hotel de Ville and broadcasts the matches. Maybe they'll do that for the football too.
