We have 6 days arriving 2/14 (redeye from JFK) and leave the morning of 2/20. Staying at Hotel Saint Paul Rive Gauche (near Odeon Metro). This is a really loose plan right now, leaving lots of time for some of other interests I have. Once I settle on the general schedule, I'll get focused on where smaller sites fit in and get crazy with my spreadsheets. But want to allow flexibility around the weather.
I know this is during Zone A school holidays (Besançon, Bordeaux, Clermont-Ferrand, Dijon, Grenoble, Limoges, Lyon, Poitiers.) and Zone C starting 2/17 (Créteil, Montpellier, Paris, Toulouse, Versailles). Any thoughts on how that will impact the crowds?
With a trip that long, I've always wanted to go to Reims, but we're already booked for a day at Versailles, so are two day trips too much? I'm a big drinker of bubbles so that is my main attraction.
Tentatively:
Arrival Day - Drop luggage at hotel, depending on weather potentially wander a bit around the neighborhood. Take a ride on the 42 bus (or the 69 maybe, it looks like 42 is more convenient to the hotel). Potentially go to the Cluny if we are ambitious. This is Valentine's Day so I am hoping to find a low key place for an evening meal.
Day 2 - Louvre
Day 3 - Versailles (starting off in the King's Apartments)
Day 4 - Notre Dame and Saint Chapelle morning, afternoon Catacombs
Day 5 - Montmartre/Sacre Coeur
Day 6 - D'Orsay and Eiffel Tower
