I’ll be spending a few days in Paris in early December. I’ve been several times, and looking for suggestions of anything special related to the holidays that I might check out.
Go to the Galeries Lafayette department store, the one next to Palais Garnier. They have the most spectacular Christmas decorations in their always spectacular interior.
I've spent a long December weekend in Paris the last two years. The Champs Elysée has some very nice lights, and the stores do a lot of decorating. But Dior is always the best. Over the top. YSL is pretty good also.
The Tuileries Christmas market has a Ferris wheel. Ride it at night for a great view. The largest Christmas market has been the one at the Armory. Very easy to get to via the Metro. The Marché de Noël de Notre-Dame, which is held in the small park next to Shakespeare and Co., is nice, and has local stuff you won't find elsewhere.
Check out the Palais Royal or Theater des Varieties for special shows.
