Paris, I will see you in the morning! May 2. also taxi costs to 4th ARR from CDG?

thanks for all the generous answers to my questions over the months.

I don't really think one can truly prepare for such a short visit. but I we will enjoy none the less. Packing lite, hope I can sleep on plane, when I was young I don't remember preparing so much for trips. now its like going to war as I get older....and I think I am pretty good traveler

Arrive CDG, Bonjour and Merci (that's pretty much it!) google translate, taxi to Apt, grab a Baguette, get euros, buy Navigo decouverte, buy food for Apt, walk the Marais got to Picasso Museum , buy Museum Pass, early dinner, suffer through the day and then sleep, awake to explore museums, couple concerts, lots of bakeries and pastries shops, hopefully tasty meals, avoiding pickpockets, lines at the some museums, KAT at Versailles for the wife, train to Colmar for a few nights and a 2 day rental and then journey into Italy..

Is the 4th arrondissement 50 or 55 euro taxi ride from CDG? my airbnb says 55 E, butI am a little confused..do I tip 1 or 2 E?

Bon Voyage!

Tipping not required. The 50 or 55 depends on Right or Left Bank. I would think 50 since it is technically closer to CDG. Hopefully someone will confirm this for you.

You could also purchase your Museum Pass at CDG. Near the luggage/baggage pick up before heading out to catch a taxi.

Enjoy your trip, 26 days until I get there.

For CDG taxi purposes, all of the 4th arrondissement counts as Right Bank and therefore €50. (Part of the Ile de la Cité and all of the Ile St-Louis in the Seine are part of the 4th, but you can see from the diagram that those two islands are clearly part of the Right Bank for taxi fares.)

Have a great trip! In addition to knowing, bon jour and merci, two more things, for when you’re dining out: “une carafe d’eau” (oon kraff doh) will get you a pitcher of free tap water, and “l’addition, s’il vous plait” (la ah-dees-see-ohn see voo play) will get you the check, when you’re done and ready to get your bill and pay.

Greg, Paris and Colmar are exactly what I want to do in a very short trip, but I have been a bit scared off. I love Alsace and Colmar, but seem to want to keep adding more and more! Pls report back how the whole trip went down.

PS, you are from my neck of the woods. I am sitting at Broad and Pine as I type.

Bon Voyage!

Have a great trip!
I noticed you listed "get Euros" after taxi ride. If you have enough time and your bank provides the service, I suggest you get a little traveling money before leaving. Our bank, Bank of America, offers an attractive exchange rate and no service fee to order foreign currency.

I also know you don't have nearly as much time as you'd like, but try to stay outdoors as much as possible upon arrival. Being indoors in a dimly lit museum for any length of time is not conducive to adjusting.

taxi to Apt, grab a Baguette, get euros

You will need Euros for the Baguette, even if you pay the taxi with a card. Leave your tipping habits at home.

Appreciate the last minute suggestions
I have 70 euros left over from my last trip so I am good till I find a Bank machine. Cab ride and a baguette
I always feel so guilty about the tipping at meals but tend to leave a few euros if I'm happy with food and service.
I try to absorb the culture act on the saying of "when in Rome do as the Romans do!."

my bags are packed and re-packed three times. do I bring a camera or use iPhone, do I bring travel books which I hardly use when traveling. My wife packs much better than me... 2 hours and counting...
