Paris hotels

In April we will be in Paris for several days at the end of a river cruise. I am overwhelmed with all the hotels and would appreciate any recommendations. We are hoping to be in a walkable area close to museums, cafes and shops.  We have some health issues so it is important to have elevators and other easy to manage for physical limitations. The message board archives has a few suggestions but I am open for more.  There are so many hotels!   Thanks for your help.

Please provide your nightly budget in Euros.

For a first time visit to Paris, I would stay within a 15-20 minute walk of the Seine. In your situation, a hotel near useful bus stops would be more important than a metro station due to the stairs.

I would look for something in Saint Germain or the Latin Quarter so you could walk to Notre Dame, Sainte Chappelle and more. Loads of restaurants, cafes and shops.

We felt the same way when we were going to Paris. We ended up at the K+K hotel in the St Germaine neighborhood. We were just a block or two from the D’Orsay and near the Lourve. Also near Il Louis. It was just under $300 per night.

Thank you for your thoughts on location. I would like to keep it under 500 euros a night. It is important for us to be able to cancel if necessary as we get closer to the date.

I'd also suggest searching on Booking.com as you can filter the results to get hotels that have elevators or accessible rooms. Those filters appear after you do an initial search for location/dates/# people (elevator to upper floors is listed under "room accessibility" criteria). You don't have to book on those platforms but it helps narrow the search, though many times you can get easily cancelable rooms via that website. As noted, you'll likely want to use the bus rather than the metro, as many metro stations have a lot of stairs.

Please consider purchasing trip insurance if you do not have coverage with your credit card.

Assuming you will not be in Paris over Easter, here is one hotel to consider in your budget.

Le Relais Saint Germain is less than 20 minute walk to Notre Dame or the Louvre, 5 minutes to Luxembourg Gardens. Excellent bus routes and metro stations nearby.

Do pay attention to room sizes. Also, in older buildings, even with an elevator, you may need to navigate some steps to your room.

At under 500€ per night, these are the hotels I might choose:

Le Marais

http://www.pavillon-de-la-reine.com/ This hotel might be a bit more, but it is the finest hotel in the Marais.

St Germain

The Hotel d'Aubusson and the Relais Christine are the most interesting hotels in the 6th at this price range but costs can vary by month. You'll need to confirm my estimates.
