Paris hotels/ Air BNB's - before return to CDG

We will be arriving CDG on an uncertain date in October (flying standby, so we can't be sure when we will actually arrive) - and want a hotel for 3 or 4 days before we return to CDG to get a train to Bordeaux. Someone suggested the Montparnasse area as convenient and interesting enough.

Any suggestions for specific hotels there, or other areas that would be safe, walkable, and convenient to return to CDG?

Budget is moderate (meaning can we find anything for under $250/night?)

You don't actually need to go to CDG to catch a train to Bordeaux unless you are meeting someone who is flying in??

The trains to Bordeaux leave from Montparnasse so that may be why someone suggested it as convenient.

Thank you! We already bought rail tkts from CDG - but I will look into a change to depart Montparnasse. Is Montparnasse nonetheless a good place to stay these days?

Montparnasse is a fine area to stay with good transit connections. Take a look at Hôtel Apollon Montparnasse on Rue de L’Ouest. The rooms are small but it is a nice spot and very well priced or at least it was when we stayed there.

I'd change my train ticket if possible -- many allow changes for a small fee -- rather than going all the way out to the airport to get a train.

Montparnasse is a great area to stay -- we like the area around Edgar Quinet metro and I would not do an AIRBNB for only 3 nights.

Not to mention that Montparnasse is precisely the right area, as your train to Bordeaux will depart from the station at Montparnasse.
