Paris Hotel w/Room Balcony

My husband and I will be celebrating our 50th anniversary with a trip to France in September. With a week in Paris I am looking for a hotel that offers balcony rooms -- preferably overlooking a street not a courtyard. I suffer with some claustrophobia and can manage it easier if I have a balcony to step out on. I know these rooms will tend to be pricy -- any suggestions are appreciated! Merci!

Congratulations on your anniversary! I know what you mean about being able to step out on a balcony. We just spent a week at the Hotel Saint-Petersbourg Opera & Spa in a deluxe terrace room on the 5th floor (506). The room was quite spacious by Paris standards with two twin beds together as one “double,” a sitting area with two chairs and a low table, a coffee bar with a mini fridge, a dressing table, generous storage closet and cabinets, a decent-sized bathroom (shower only) and a terrace that ran the length of our room. Two sets of French doors/windows opened onto the terrace with a step up and out. The wide, private terrace had a bistro table and chairs and faced the street with views of the rooftops of the surrounding buildings and lots of sky. I had actually commented to my husband that the terrace made a huge difference in how open and bright the room felt.

The hotel is in a great location in the 9th arrondissement, on a side street around the corner from the Palais Garnier and down the street from Le Printemps and Galeries Lafayette. Very convenient transit connections (metro, buses and Roissy bus) also within walking distance of several sites. Nice bakery across the street and plenty of restaurants. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Make sure the windows and sliding door are double-glazed. I often ask for a courtyard room because they are much, much quieter. Air conditioning eliminates the need to sleep with the windows open.

THANK YOU, JenS and Tim! The Hotel Saint-Petersbourg Opera & Spa has the Deluxe Terrace room available for our dates and even offers a long stay discount. We are keeping it on our short list and know we'll have to commit soon even though the trip is in September; amazing how quickly they book!

September is peak season in Paris, perhaps the busiest month, so yes, makes sense to commit and book soon ish!

Thanks, much, Balso and Steven for your replies! We actually stayed at the Hotel Muguet for a couple days several years ago when we had a very brief stay in Paris. Our room had a great view of the Eiffel Tower but it was just a Juliet-type balcony where you couldn't actually go out on it. But, I will recheck that hotel for other rooms with a 'real' balcony.

Just returned from week in Paris. We returned to the hotel we stayed over our last visit 4 years ago. Hotel Bradford Elysées - Astotel In the 8th. Lovely hotel and we had great room with balcony. The room had 2 sets of double doors to balcony that ran length of the room with table and chairs where we enjoyed coffee in the morning and glass of wine in the evening. There was even a bit of an Eiffel Tower view lit up at night. They have category of room “privilege room with balcony” that are all on 5th floor that oversee the street. We had room 57 which seemed to be the largest, Great location and good value for what this hotel offered…but sure will be more expensive in September than March, but highly recommend.

I just checked out the Hotel Bradford Elysées - Astotel and it looks like a possibility! They have one room left with a balcony (I'm not sure how many they had in total) at € 352.50 which is not bad at all. We are going to make our decision today and book one. We have our list with names, rates, location, ratings, etc. including most (all?) seem to have free cancellation up until about a week before just in case (I know -- I shouldn't even say it!) Covid hits again. Thank you!

Great hotel….if you book send a request and ask for room 57 if available. That is the room they show on the website for that level room. They had a nice breakfast, snack room open all day with free snacks and drinks and stock free non alcoholic drinks in your mini bar each day. Really nice location…hope which ever place you choose, you have a wonderful time!

I also recommend the Saint-Petersbourg Hotel. I have stayed there twice. Last year I stayed in a gorgeous room with a balcony. Probably my most favorite hotel stay in Paris. Was romantic, too, and the spa shower is also lovely.

Your input is appreciated, Alexander. I'll let you all know our decision -- and then, of course, comment again after our 1 week in Paris in September (with another 2 weeks in other parts of France). Rick Steves' forums are the best!

I just booked two hotels in Paris near Champs elysee for end of June with those exact wants. I had a tough time with availability and the searching was tedious mostly because I’ve never been to Europe. The two I booked were both suites with balconies or terrace with view of Eiffel Tower.

Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe Hotel
& Le Belmont Paris

And I only booked two until I figure out which one is better. Belmont was just under 3k for 4 nights where other was roughly 900 a night

We're now booked -- Hotel St. Petersbourg Opera and Spa! Six nights at a total of € 2,307 (€ 376, € 376, € 376, € 342, € 376, € 461 -- no idea why a Tuesday is 461 but...). We're super excited and so much appreciate everyone's recommendations! Have a great time headntheclouds1414 in June as I'm sure we will in September!

You're going to love the Saint-Petersbourg! The service is top-notch, very personable, and the breakast is just lovely. Make sure to have it delivered up to your room so you can enjoy it on the balcony. There is a fabulous boulangerie/pâtisserie directly across the street and just down the street is the Grand Cafe capucines which is worth a stop for lunch or dinner

That sounds great! And we will take your suggestion, Alexander, and make sure to go to the pâtisserie and Grand Cafe. Our 3 day trip to Paris in 2019 was very brief as our destination was Switzerland (which we loved!) so we did a whirlwind tour. This time we'll take 6 full days, do a couple day/half-day trips that we couldn't do last time (Versailles, Giverny, maybe Reims) and then enjoy the city in a more leisurely fashion. Sidewalk cafes, strolling the avenues, maybe a ride on the Seine.....
